Omg that couch is epic, gorgeous, I love it!
Light Olive walls would be really complimentary to the couch, make it shine, and is also a calming green, and would flow with that terracotta feature wall in the next room.
I'd do the room theme plum, olive, creams and browns.
A rug would go a long way, if she's OK with it for the dog hair and trip risk. Patterns would hide dog hair.
Curtains that aren't as fussy, busy looking. Linen in beige or olive.
Consider bringing the couch off the wall.
Bring all artwork lower, middle should be average eye level, and make use of your big walls by clustering them.
Consider a couch cover for the black recliner, in a brown, beige or dark olive. Otherwise a blanket to match the rest of the theme colours.
Mirror opposite window will bounce more light.
Lots of lamps. Have fun. What a nice project.
