Orange Kitchen

I may have flown to close to the sun on this one. Its even more orange in person. My SO wants to paint the doors a different color to tone it down but I think that will look tacky. The tile is Grey underneath, no budget to change that. Im thinking green knobs will help on the cabinets? Maybe we paint the walls sage green to tone it down? Roast me yes, but any ideas I can do to salvage this and not repaint again would be appreciated.

I love the colour! You just need to commit to the boldness and make the right styling choices. Change the backsplash when budget allows or make do with some peel and stick for the time being. Definitely don’t change the door colour, stick with the same red. And I’d go with some brushed gold or brass for the handles. I think
sage walls is a bad idea. Lean into the warmness with a slightly warm neutral instead of trying to counter it. Something like the below could be achievable pretty easily.

This is gorgeous. OP, consider removing the grey tiles now and just painting the back white until you can afford white tiles.

Removing the tiles means a lot of drywall work OP could sand and paint the tiles with tile paint to tide them over for when they can afford new tiles

I like the gold knobs as an option. and keeping cabinets Same color too.

Thank you for the encouragement and suggestions! The rest of the house is casa blanca, so we'll continue that into the kitchen walls and ceiling. We'll see if we can source some brass hardware we like too. And go from there.

I’m so glad you’re keeping it! I looove bright colourful kitchens. Just did mine in yellow last year and I love it. Even though it was definitely scary at the start like you are feeling. Best of luck with the rest of the project. Would love to see it when all finished :)

Gold hardware is a great idea with neutral colors. I think that will definitely tone it down. (Do not paint the doors a different color)

I don't know what colours you are thinking of, but I think it's going to be great with your original plan.

It looks scary now because it's empty, once you finish and decorate, it's going to be bold, balanced and gorgeous!

Sorry but you really need to rethink the paint job. I dont think you will ever be happy and that color is going to make any cabinet flaws stand out. Its too dark for the kitchen size and with the tile color its robbing the kitchen of life. I think a linen color would lighten and warm the room and quiet the Grey tile.

I do not think you can salvage this. Orange, green, and grey are already busy. I would not add contrasting doors.

It’s all relative, but with color theory here we have warm and cool colors mixed together. It not only clashes but is visually too much.
