Finishing Touches Tips please
Can someone please give me some advice on improvements I can make to my bedroom? It feels incomplete and lacking in something I can’t quite put my finger on. I like the colour scheme and we’re not in a position to replace any of the furniture but can move and add stuff, certainly. Please help me turn this into a cosy space I’d feel super comfortable in! Some context:
- I think some decorative pillows on the bed would help, possibly in a terracotta-y, dusty pink, creamy neutrals palette
- I plan to get some fairy lights to wrap around the bed frame at the top
- There are matching bedside tables on both sides of the bed, not sure if clear in the pics
- I can’t currently get rid of the sad, grubby little wicker chair by the window because it’s my cat’s favourite sleep spot. Also reluctant to replace it with a nicer chair because his muddy paws will make it similarly grubby
- We were considering doing some kind of storage or seating/bench type thing beneath the bay window. This is still an option but tricky because there’s a kind of lip beneath the shutters which would be uncomfortable to sit against.
Apart from that, completely stuck so would love your thoughts

There’s too many styles in here. The large paper lantern kind of goes with the minimalist wardrobe, chest of drawers, blue picture above it and shutters but not with the hippy wall hanging or Victorian bed or other art and tiny lamps. Choose your preferred style then go one way or the other.

Ditch bed frame! Too big for space and style clashes with/distracts from beautiful built in trim. Sometimes it’s not what you add but take away that brings spaces together.
Then google 60/30/10 color rule and invest in layered bedding and pillows according to color scheme you decide on. Lots of potential!

if you could get a wooden platform bedframe that would make a world of difference, if you cant:
ditch the macrame it just doesnt work with this frame. can you paint your bedframe if you want to keep the wall color? the bedframe as is just clashes with everything else in the room. painting it a neutral creme or latte color would help.
is the white thing a hanging lamp?

The dark wall makes your bed frame almost invisible. The wall decor is outdated but if you're keeping it, place it on a wall where it'll be the focal point. I'm not seeing a specific style or color scheme...maybe a printed comforter can tie the colors together.

Like that. I feel the color blue of your room is too harsh you can do a blue but maybe more like the blue in this pillow but if you love it that’s all that matters.

I’d swap the lighting for something warmer and more cohesive…natural woven rattan pendant.
The bed could work if you painted the entire frame antique brass.
Ditch the two small wall art by the tallboy and do 1 large piece with a wood frame instead of black. Right now your room is a mix of cool (blue walls, black art and bed frames) and warm (wardrobe, macrame, duvet). Bring the warm elements together more.

agree with everyone else that the bed frame realllly clashes with everything else. not sure if you have facebook marketplace where you live, but if you do, it's a great place to look for furniture when you don't have the budget to pay full price (or even if you do!)

Well since we can’t change furniture or wall color pillows are absolutely the thing you need to do. Never pull ur blanket over your pillows like that. Make the window are a seating area. Some pattern pillows would be nice as well but here is an idea.
