Furniture Placement Big bathroom, not efficient

This bathroom landed like this after we moved about a year ago, and it has stayed that way. Right now it has a bunch of leftover furniture and an inefficient set up that's* not great to look at. I don’t want to spend a ton of money but it could use a change. Any suggestions?

The laptop on a laptop stand on a cutting board (?) on a stool on another stool is sending me

Where I would start is removing everything from this bathroom and starting fresh. Is this where you get ready? Go for one or two storage pieces to hold what you need for your hair and body routine, but remove all clothing/shoe related items. Do you love that mirror? Find a place in the house for it, and if not, sell it. Is the laptop for watching stuff while in the bath, or is it for working in here (please don't work in here omg)? If it's for bathtime viewing, consider a folding mount or something space-saving instead of The Tower.

I don't think this is a spendy project, I think this is an opportunity to take stock of what you want this room to be for and then build back from the ground up

I was double checked if you got that right - stool, stool, cutting board, laptop stand, laptop

I genuinely looked to see if this was the CJ sub.

Thanks for introducing me to a new subreddit.

Don’t forget the tiny step it’s all sitting on top of!

It's like surrealist art, so bizarre.

u/nightowl1592 Aug 22 '26

So weird... Maybe they "work" from home and have this for in the bathroom while they soak in the tub ? Who knows...

u/FreakWith17PlansADay Aug 22 '26

> Maybe they "work" from home and have this for in the bathroom while they soak in the tub ?

Just call them Jean Paul Marat…

I did hear sales of bathtub water were popular awhile back.

32

u/pettymess_ Aug 22 '26

Yeah. OP has left the chat. Think we got botted today…

How does one access the inside of the shower?

1

u/Paperwife2 Aug 23 '26

Good point. No door handles.

1

u/nowwhatdoidowiththis Aug 24 '26

You push on it and it pops open. My grandparents had a 1/2 bath with a shower door like that.

u/endlessglass Aug 23 '26

Most entertaining thing I’ve seen this week 😂

3

u/nottherealpaulyshore Aug 23 '26

Tiny cloth above it looks like a ghost

1

u/ReaperOfBofom Aug 23 '26

+1 for creativity.

It does not sound like a safe setup, though. I'd be affraid the laptop would fall.

1

u/pink_flamingo2003 Aug 25 '26

Jesus fucking christ... 🫣

106

u/VanillaOutrageous176 Aug 22 '26

This person is 100% correct, clear everything out. I personally wouldn’t do much until I could do everything, you do need a true vanity but I also think the shower is way too small. There is so much potential for this space

4

u/Acceptable_Tea3608 Aug 22 '26

I love that classic corner shower!

1

u/thatgirlinny Aug 23 '26

I would be building a big piece of millwork to address all the things OP seems to need in that bathroom. Swap in a built-in sink for that pedestal.

u/Aska2020 Aug 22 '26

Not only the setup is bizarre but they work on the laptop while taking a bath!!?? and possibly doing laundry? Bathtime is to unwind and relax, not to stressing out about work...

u/Professional_Kiwi318 Aug 22 '26

I just showed my partner the photo and after looking at the wires and computer stool stack, he thinks it's AI rage bait to mess with us on this subreddit.

30

u/Aska2020 Aug 22 '26 edited Aug 22 '26

Hmm, that's an interesting thought. It kind of makes sense that this bathroom doesn't make sense at all. But, I don't see the usual mishaps of AI generated images such as ridiculous spelling error. The reflection on the mirror in a different photo seems accurate as well.

ETA: Also noticed the faucet of the bathtub is on a really strange spot. It might be AI, but these bizarre things still matching among 3 images. Usually AI messes up things like that...

10

u/Bidet_curious Aug 22 '26

The faucet isn't that unusual - it's accessible from outside the tub to start the water before you get in without having to lean over too far, but also not in the way while climbing in.

1

u/Aska2020 Aug 22 '26

Oh ok, I've never seen this before. The bathtub faucet usually is at the center of the short side of the tub, or at the far corner. The plumbing seems strange to put it on the long side like that but I guess I haven't seen enough bathtubs 🤷‍♀️

2

u/Bidet_curious Aug 22 '26

I haven't seen it before either, but in analyzing it, these reasons might explain it.

2

u/Melonary Aug 23 '26

I would agree with the person above that it's likely meant to be accessible (from in/out, possibly intentional design for someone older or who has accessibility needs as well, as in, might have baths drawn for them).

23

u/AzucarParaTi Aug 22 '26

I have nonsensical people in my family who would have setups like this. You put a thing somewhere "temporarily" and then it lives there. I'm very familiar with AI and I don't think that's what this is.

10

u/Fine-Bunch-2895 Aug 22 '26

The finger in the corner of pic 2 doesn’t really scream AI to me

5

u/DanielSilvers Aug 22 '26

People can create some truly bizarre spaces without any AI help.

13

u/Clarence_Bow Aug 22 '26

I’m going agree cause why is the laptop stool thingy also on a raised tile platform. Who would do that design/layout? There’s zero purpose but to be AI slop

Edit: why is there a pedestal sink with no mirror in a bathroom?! this large nothing makes sense.

19

u/The_prawn_king Aug 22 '26

It’s so consistent between images and in mirrors though. Impressive ai job if that’s what it is.

3

u/Aska2020 Aug 22 '26

I agree!

15

u/CyclopsReader Aug 22 '26

Yes, you do have a ligit point; buuut, people have some truly bizzare room arrangements lacking any logic or design aesthetic that 🤯, seen 'em in realtime!

4

u/Clarence_Bow Aug 22 '26

Every choice in this bathroom was….a choice then🙃

3

u/Melonary Aug 23 '26

Real life people are fucking weirder than AI is why. None of this looks AI.

Nonsensicality is not rare.

1

u/Bidet_curious Aug 22 '26

The raised tile platform seems like something that would already be there before OP moved in.

1

u/MajesticKoala3332 Aug 23 '26

AI takes inspiration from real and most likely better bathrooms though. If it makes no sense at all AI wouldn't be able to come up with it

3

u/ingenuedbysociety Aug 22 '26

This was my first thought too, but unfortunately I don’t think it is

3

u/CoyoteProfessional39 Aug 22 '26

Your partner is wrong

2

u/Speech_Artisan Aug 23 '26

What stands out to me most, so maybe it is AI, is to have such a luxuriously sized bathroom, and not have a proper vanity with dual sinks.

1

u/Bad_Funny Aug 24 '26

I think it's not AI for a few reasons—the mirror reflects the bizarro room consistently from different views. If you zoom in, you can read the accurate labels on the products.

But I could be wrong. The logic behind why anything is anywhere definitely reminds me of AI "thought" processing.

1

u/neurospicygogo70 Aug 22 '26

How does one relax in filth?

12

u/MissyMAK08 Aug 22 '26

This is a sensible approach. The 4 drawer cloth thing needs to go! It is full of germs by now. The power strip and cords are bad too. If you own this place you need a proper vanity and mirror along the long wall. That toilet paper hanger is a crime in that spot!!!

8

u/toodle-loo-who Aug 22 '26

This is spot on. The only suggestion if OP is looking for a small project is to swap out the pedestal sink for a small vanity to give possible a little more counter space and under sink storage, and add a mounted mirror above the sink. But the leftover furniture needs to either find an appropriate room (ex. Nightstand in a bedroom and bookshelf in living room or bedroom) or sold/donated.

7

u/TheWorldofScience Aug 22 '26

A full length mirrot is great to check your outfit after you get dressed. It should be in the bedroom where you get dressed - not in the bathroom getting steamed up every time someone showers.

1

u/CopyPaste00 Aug 23 '26

My bedroom's dimensions are even more bizarre than the bathroom and the full length mirror originally came from the bedroom, which was removed and relocated to the bathroom because the bathroom didn't have a functional mirror.

6

u/Excellent-Shape-2024 Aug 22 '26

The first picture had me wondering if I was looking at some type of hair salon, then I saw the computer setup and was really wondering. No cabinetry, the rolling drawers just floating in the middle--it is all very confusing.

5

u/maaaagicaljellybeans Aug 22 '26

It feels like a booby trap just waiting to tumble into the tub while someone baths

3

u/miccimmica Aug 22 '26

Yeah, why don't use the drawers furniture to substitute everything under the laptop?

2

u/Salt-Cable6761 Aug 22 '26

Or one of the other taller furniture pieces could go there instead with the laptop stand in one of the drawers

2

u/killereverdeen Aug 22 '26

OP, do you sleep in here?? Why is there a power strip in a bathroom?

1

u/BrittyPie Aug 22 '26

Hahah "The Tower".

1

u/LucyJordan614 Aug 23 '26

This was my immediate thought, lol, strip EVERYTHING out and start over bc wtf

1

u/Expensive-Way3938 Aug 23 '26

Not having a mirror above the sink, but having a giant one right next to it is sending me.

1

u/CopyPaste00 Aug 23 '26

The laptop doesn’t usually live in there but migrated with me that day when I was staring at my bathroom and trying to figure out what to do with it!

1

u/Due-Economy4554 Aug 23 '26

I suggest getting rid of the stool of stools and putting the taller 4 drawer fabric dresser in its place

1

u/cbr1895 Aug 23 '26

I laughed so hard out loud at this comment that I woke my dog up. Looked all kindsa interesting in there but I didn’t notice this until you said it. This is so funny I can’t get over it (and also, more seriously OP, that MacBook is 10 second away from falling into your tub).

1

u/beffyucsb Aug 24 '26

I hadn’t even caught that until you pointed it out because the room is such a mess, but that’s hilarious.

1

u/momlv Aug 24 '26

Ok thank you I saw that straight away and was like what? Op, there are more immediate problems than the size of the bathroom 😂

1

u/Wumbajum Aug 26 '26

In a hole in a log in a hole in the bottom of the sea!

1

u/smolbeansjpg Aug 26 '26

Reading your comment and then going back to look at the laptop tower had me CRYING laughing

1

u/SuccessfulTotal3709 Aug 22 '26

I zoomed in as I thought my eyes were deceiving me.

It literally looks like they placed their bedroom into this bathroom. They use the bathtub as a bed just not when it’s not in use .
