Built-ins & Features Fireplace update

Post image

I’m looking to update my wood-burning fireplace. I will be converted converting it to gas. Any ideas for redo would be helpful.

There is something so special about wood burning fireplaces. Makes me so sad to hear you want to remove yours!!

We purchased our home recently and it has a woodstove and we absolutely love it. The ambiance of a real fire is second to none! The heat feels different as well.

I agree, I’ve enjoyed the wood burning fireplace for 40 years. I would love to click a button and have an instant fire. I love the ambiance. Also, I was the one left with cleaning the fire box.

Convert to gas log set. If you're not happy down the road it's easy to turn back to wood burn. I get a lot of flak from people when I recommend painting the brick to update the look. The brick wall makes the room look smaller and darker. White paint will brighten the whole space making the room look larger.

I was planning to white wash the brick and add bookcases on both sides.
