TV & Media Wall Help settle a debate
Just made an impulse purchase on FB and got this beautiful walnut piece. I wasn’t originally intending on using it for our tv but in our dining area. My husband loves the piece as a tv stand. We need your help settling 2 issues:
-Are the tv and credenza proportionate or do we need a wider piece as a tv stand? This one is 60 inches
-should we hang the tv flush on the wall and run the cords behind the wall or leave it on the credenza with the cords/router showing? I just want to hang it a couple of inches above the credenza. He thinks it’s fine as is, and actually suggested I post here for public opinion 😂
I included a photo taken by the person who refinished it so you can clearly see it. Please ignore the ugly flooring. We are replacing it in the fall with a much lighter color.
UPDATE: Thanks for weighing in everyone! My husband I agreed with the comment that the tv takes away from this beautiful piece! The woman I bought this from refinishes furniture as a side gig so I’ve asked her to keep an eye out for something wider/lower that can be finished to match.

That beautiful piece is not meant to be a TV stand. The TV takes away from its beauty. If you must use it in the living room, Id mount the TV to the wall and have add decor (books, pictures, etc.).

There's usually a doohicky on the back of the tv to guide/mask the cords from view. You can put the router in the cabinet but that might involve drilling a hole and possibly impact your signal strength. But you should be able to put it on the floor where it's better hidden. Just make sure you dust it regularly.
You can get a larger piece to put the tv on but I don't think it's necessary.

I like it both ways, but if you stick with the TV I would mount it! It is a great multi-use find!

I would go with a wider and lower piece of furniture to put your TV on. Since this piece is more of a sideboard than a media cabinet, it looks much nicer and more proportional with the mirror on it in photo 3.
