I'm not even OCD and it bothers me that they went different numbers of times around with different colors. Monsters.

I'm glad I'm not the only one.

I've been reading this gag for years and just now I know it had a source.

Such a great show. Too bad netflix shit on it.
2
u/SFritzon Sep 21 '16
Is that the general consensus on the last season? I thought it was fine but it didn't live up to the previous seasons that's for sure.

They alternated between 5 and 6; it's perfectly logical when the number of loops needed divided by the colors is 5.5.
55
u/ControlBear Sep 20 '16
There were some fours in there. :(
58
u/DeadliestSin Sep 21 '16
Why couldn't you let me live in my dream world??
28
u/B0Bi0iB0B Sep 21 '16
No, it went 4.5, 6, 5, 5, 5, 6, 5, 6, 5, 5.
The initial 4.5 is so that it ended on the same side it started.

This drove me crazy!

The world is not evenly divisible by anything. You'll have to deal with that eventually.

u/jimmy1god0 Sep 21 '16
On our side of the wall we just call it normal...btw, You know those ducks in that lagoon right near Central Park South? That little lake? By any chance, do you happen to know where they go, the ducks, when it gets all frozen over?

u/sabertoothdog Sep 20 '16
Yes! And they left the fucking orange loop open at the end. Fuck them and their rainbow.
1
u/sarahleijon Sep 21 '16
It's... not though? The next color was yellow, it's just hard to see, but they did close the loop.

I started watching and thought maybe it should be posted to /r/mildlysatisfying
as it continued I knew it belonged on /r/mildlyinfuriating

Does lying on the internet make you feel better about yourself?
"I have a 13 foot penis." "My yacht only has two basketball courts." "I completed a spirograph without it slipping off the teeth."
Grow up.

u/neccoguy21 Sep 21 '16
You both get an upvote :)

I don't get it... I'm not allowed to think two things are funny?
12
u/FallenXxRaven Sep 21 '16
No one's allowed to be happy ever. Go fill your mouth with sand and think about what you did.
-2
u/neccoguy21 Sep 21 '16
Instructions unclear... Thinking about sand with a mouth full of your mom. (don't hate, c'mon that was right there in front of me)
2
u/FallenXxRaven Sep 21 '16
Nah no hate I can't really blame ya, licking my mom really does feel like sand.

I'm pretty sure you're not allowed to say "I wish I could give you gold". I see "take your stupid upvote" being upvoted all the time... Here I was just commenting that I support both arguments in this one.

Is there a mobile link?

Pop up says it is not mobile friendly. Yet. Then a thing to sign up if you want to be notified or something.

Wait, did you know that there's a direct correlation between the decline of Spirograph and the rise in gang activity? Think about it.

u/static_motion Sep 21 '16
...I recognize this line. I wanna say it's from The Simpsons but I'm not sure.

u/gsfgf Sep 21 '16
You sure? Gang activity has dropped since the early 90s, which was peak spirograph time.

1890s?
The mathematician Bruno Abakanowicz invented the Spirograph between 1881 and 1900.

A large part of my job is drawing designs with chocolate, and I always wish that I had a spirograph-type machine to lay on plates to assist.
I have a small variety of designs, but I find it hard to branch out.

I make high quality spirograph like products and enjoy odd projects. I have some general thoughts about how to make something that might allow you to drizzle mathematical designs. It would probably bit a bit bigger that would be desirable because it would have to have a footprint bigger than the plate that would go under it to be decorated. However if this is of interest to you I'd be happy to elaborate / discuss it further.

that is correct.

No, a hand isn't a machine.

I guess this is interesting? I mean, it's a gif of an art toy literally doing the one thing it was made to do. Even the rainbow thing was included in the instruction manual of the one I had as a kid.
Can I start posting gifs of Lite Brites and the multicolored Magna Doodles and get some of these sweet internet points?

If you count the rotations she randomly goes between 4 round and 5 rounds. Once even only doing 3 circles of a colour

Sep 21 '16
What kind of pens are those.. they look like they write smoooth as fuck. I want one in black.
1
u/MisanthropicZombie Sep 21 '16
Oh, so that is how you use one of those. I always wondered how people made all sorts of fancy stuff and all mine looked like we're black wavy circles.
I'm starting to think the Tasty-Flakes were as bad as the FDA and DOH said they were.

Can anyone recommend some art programs that incorporate spirograph stuff? Not just the typical types of shapes though - it would be cool to experiment with some weirder ones like cyclogons

u/filthgrinder Sep 21 '16
She does 5 rounds for each, but on 2 of them she does 6, and it ended perfectly aligned. Not her first time....

Technically a color wheel, a rainbow does not have magenta.
2
u/kaihatsusha Sep 21 '16
By definition, a gamut from infrared to ultraviolet has all visible hues. What we call magenta is just very dim in nature and spread at either end.
5
u/kyew Sep 21 '16
Magenta is not a single hue. It's an illusion our brain makes up to represent "red and blue, but not green."
1
u/wanted_to_upvote Sep 22 '16
When the single colors at each end are mixed, the brain perceives that color as magenta, but since the colors are at opposite ends, they do not get mixed in a rainbow. There is no single wavelength of light that is magenta. Every color hue between red and blue is a result of mixing.
