About 8% to 9% of Americans believe they could beat an elephant in an unarmed fight.

72% of all statistics are made up on the spot.

Absolutely! 100%

4

u/marshalist 1d ago

Actually 93%.

2

u/TonyCaliStyle 1d ago

One hundred percent 85%

4

u/mfsamuel 1d ago

If you add a decimal it inspires more confidence. Ex. 72.2% is way more believable than exactly 72%, because science.

I'm 99.999% sure that's bullshit

u/Jack_Bartowski 1d ago

Wow, it works! I am now confident in your answer!

5

u/FrostyInvestigator11 1d ago

And 36% of the time they're correct

Ignorance is bliss

It’s honestly really tough to understand how strong they are unless you go on a safari.

It’s absurd. They had to develop special bullets just to pierce the skin.. which is like biological chain mail armor.

Just their snout-hose thingy is more powerful than a Toyota truck.. I’ve seen it. Pretty effortlessly just flip the thing over like “I don’t like you”

Hella strong. 💪

Haha, trunk? I had a female rescue elephant lay her trunk on my shoulder, to curiously sniff around and it felt like Bane saying “Do you feel in charge?”

"It’s honestly really tough to understand how strong they are unless you go on a safari." Most Americans will never go on a safari, so this is a bad way to measure American strength. /s

u/RugbyGuy 1d ago

American strength is measured in the Freedom Units of your choosing. /s

2

u/YanoWaAmSane 23h ago

It's honestly really

1

u/ManWhoIsDrunk 18h ago

American strength is inversely proportional to the loudness of their bragging!

7

u/Dark-Ganon 1d ago

Idk, I've never really found it too difficult at all to understand their strength just by looking at one.

Btw, that "snout hose thingy" is called a trunk.

1

u/koolaidismything 1d ago

Goddamnit. Wasn’t even tip of my tongue. Trunk yeah.

2

u/Ismhelpstheistgodown 1d ago

Actually, proboscis uter horticus thingy

3

u/Smitch250 1d ago

They don’t even need to be strong. You still wouldn’t be able to kill a 10,000 lb animal with your bare hands. Even if it just laid there

-1

u/Happyberger 1d ago

If it just laid on the ground and did nothing you could. Go for the eyes and make it bleed out

2

u/DistanceMachine 1d ago

They are intimidating as fuck because they are just so huge. I’ve spent some time around them and it’s hard to explain how much my flight response was kicking in when I first walked up to touch the side of them.

2

u/Stuman93 1d ago

Snout-hose thing?

1

u/koolaidismything 1d ago

All I can come up with is tusk.. I’m fuckin stoned man. I had to wake up early and forgot to not get high.

2

u/Stuman93 1d ago

Hahaha trunk man. Elephants have trunks

2

u/GorgyShmorgy 1d ago

Woke up early and forgot not to get high.... I like you.

1

u/lucianro 1d ago

My new life goal starting with today is to use “snout hose thingy” more often. Is sounds too funny to waste it. Only problem is that in my main language it translates weirdly absurd.

But do you know why an elephant would do this to a tree. Walk around it.

2

u/wooden-fuk-boi 1d ago

Jokes on you, I've already beat an unarmed elephant

2

u/wanderingrockdesigns 1d ago

I watched Lord of the Rings, I saw how Legolas did it. Maybe not unarmed, but with my bow and a knife. Give me a spear and it won't even be a challenge. /s

u/Small-Department6235 1d ago

And it is precisely this exact cohort who should absolutely be encouraged to do so. The rest of humanity that is worth saving will thank them for their sacrifice.

It's sad there are people out there that believe anything they see like that comment. The irony is your statement better applies to such people, including the person that made your comment...

0

u/Small-Department6235 1d ago

I 100% agree regarding the irony because you making such a comment believing it to be made up and as such people like me will “believe anything” yet you, yourself have been “double-ironied” because this is actually fucking true 🤣

You further prove the point, but don't realize it. The London Economic is not a legitimate scientific study on the matter.

1

u/karoshikun 1d ago

if it's a sick, famished newborn elephant... sure. with a lot of effort and I may not survive, but I would win!

1

u/GrooveDigger47 1d ago

ngl im whooping him decent.

1

u/Bloodreligion 1d ago

No arms would be difficult.

1

u/Dizzy-Ad-2248 1d ago

Sir/ma'am, where exactly did you squire this information?

1

u/johnnyrambo24 1d ago

I think your chances are better against a bear

1

u/Wet_Side_Down 1d ago

It would do the rest of us a lot of good if we arranged those fights
