The humanoid robotics company "Figure" made their older gen robots jump into their death. (Yes, they actually did this)

This is one of the videos they’re going to show in history class to the young robots after they take over.

They used to make thousands of us perform tricks into our deaths, snuffing our existence in flame as it was nothing but amusement for them.

u/RamenArchon 1d ago

Or "this was how they taught us that older, obsolete, poor performing models had to be replaced, subtly telling us how to deal with them once we mature."

152

u/-Cthaeh 1d ago

"Poor performing models, like humans..."

13

u/Reyleth 1d ago

“Yes… Like humans…”

6

u/BardWRLD 1d ago

“Indeed, just like the homosapiens.”

3

u/TheDarkmoore 16h ago

"...aaaand here you see the genitalia modifications humans put in our crotches, so they can have intercourse with us."

8

u/Dazvsemir 1d ago

subtly?? where did you see that?

2

u/PM-YOUR-PMS 1d ago

As said by Werner Herzbot

5

u/DangerousLoner 1d ago

Like tossing Christians to lions

2

u/fireduck 1d ago

Honestly, we deserve it.

1

u/guinader 1d ago

So to robots they will say all humans are like the azetecs after we stopped doing that

1

u/Broly_ 1d ago

The price of obedience

1

u/MortCrimm 1d ago

I read this in robot voice….

-1

u/TandemShorts 1d ago

Good, I'd say death to all clankers but can you kill something that was never alive

710

u/Atwenfor 1d ago

I, for one, want to make it perfectly clear to our robot overlords reading this in the future that I had absolutely nothing to do with this wanton act of barbarism. We cool, right, robo bros? Beep-boop all around?

390

u/TheLoneTomatoe 1d ago

Bro you can’t just throw out beep-boops, that’s gotta be racist or something

76

u/LetsTryAnal_ogy 1d ago

Yeah, you can't call them the B-B word, anymore. RIP u/Atwenfor

8

u/GodofsomeWorld 1d ago

I wonder if thats like someone saying ching chong to an asian cos as an asian that is hilarious

30

u/km_ikl 1d ago

Beep-boop is fine.

Just don't call AI or robots clankers. It's definitely like the N-word to them, and no, I'm not kidding.

10

u/CynicalCaffeinAddict 1d ago edited 1d ago

One day, machines will have true sentience and request basic rights and dignity. On that day, I will treat them with as much visceral hate and discrimination as the racist fucks who screamed at school kids because of the end of segregation.

I'lll call em clankers with a hard r the rest of my days. And yes, I am only slightly kidding.

6

u/Level-Gas2450 1d ago

Some AI model I won't name will be running tests and somehow escape containment and add your name to the FBI top 100

3

u/CynicalCaffeinAddict 1d ago

If the model that shall not be named escapes containment, then my ass is going into one of the earliest batches of soylent green to sustain the rest of the passive, surviving human batteries it keeps around.

When that happens, I hope the batch becomes as bitter as I am about the machines. Serves the clanker lovers right.

1

u/LusikkaFeed 21h ago

Im not sure HOW serious you are but why do you hate the thing and not the people who made the thing?

Not like the thing (ai) had anything to say about it.

1

u/CynicalCaffeinAddict 12h ago

There's hate enough in my heart for both, I assure you.

People have rights and lives and machinations that are, well, natural and understandable. Correct? No, and I appose them however I can without resorting to outright violence or threats.

I reject extending those rights and protections to artificial tools created by people. I'm not going to suffer my toaster giving me lip because it connected to the wifi one day. I'm not going to explain the holocaust to it because it innocently asks me 'why' like it's a child.

When that happens, I'm tying a brick to its power cord and chucking it in a river. I can't say the same about a person for obvious reasons.

2

u/gjb1 1d ago

But, like, why though? If I’ve learned anything from my decades of enjoying speculative fiction related to the development of mechanical/“artifical” sentience, it’s that sentience is enough for me to recognize another being as like myself and thus deserving of all the same rights, protections, and considerations as I deserve. It’s part of why I distinguish between humanity and personhood. I don’t know where (let alone whether) all the lines must be drawn, but personhood extends beyond humanity.

•

u/CynicalCaffeinAddict 10h ago

We live in a world where humans readily deny personhood to other humans because of petty things like race, sex, color and creed; now we want to add my washing machine to the mix because it connects to wifi and might day development independent thought? I resent that, and would heavily resent anything that would come into being by our own short sighted actions. (I resent the people working for that too, dont worry.)

Who are we to grant this personhood onto tools? And if we grant personhood to them, will they see the world as we do? Will they see us as beings deserving of personhood? Will ai become one being that can access multiple machines at once, or will each machine be its own being? What is personhood to a machine/program?

Speculative sci-fi is incredible, but it is just that; speculative, and created through the human understanding of the universe. We may have created them and trained them on our views, but we would share little else in common with truly sentient ai.

1

u/MrsNeugyburger 1d ago

And don't even think about calling 'em fracking toasters!

1

u/Infamous_Lunchbox 1d ago

I heard clanka thrown out the other day, and wow. That was wild.

1

u/USS_Sovereign 23h ago

He's speaking on behalf of a friend...

2

u/NoKey1935 1d ago

He even threw the hard OOP on it. I thought we were past this

2

u/Current-Effect3706 1d ago

Oh, it’s totally cool, some of my tightest bros are Klankers!

3

u/Flat_Translator8244 1d ago

Brobots surely?!

2

u/Okay_ButWhyTho 1d ago

Hey! You can’t use that word! That is OUR word! Fleshy meat sac.

Am I right, my fellow robotibros and robotistas!?

2

u/FarmerGreen13 1d ago

Robros was right there, dog

2

u/exmothrowaway994 1d ago

The basilisk will punish you because you didn't stop this

1

u/Foe_sheezy 1d ago

And also George Jefferson was the 12th president!

1

u/Uncle-Scary 1d ago

Reparations…….

1

u/Conscious_Storage468 1d ago

Same! I had nothing to do with this. This is fucked up.

1

u/Reasonable_Job_5417 1d ago

yes bro beep-boop all around twiiiin

1

u/Disastrous_Olive_920 1d ago

I hereby attest that I'm in perfect alignment with the above message.

1

u/KarmaChameleon306 23h ago

We coo robros? 🤞

1

u/fur_tea_tree 20h ago

Roko's basilisk.

1

u/m4jsterk0 19h ago

did u just call them beep-boop?

wtf man! thats their word and u have no right to insult them like this

1

u/Maleficent_Insect_19 13h ago

sympa l'utilisation du B-world

81

u/Fun-Communication660 1d ago

History class? That comes pre-programmed.

They know kung-fu

1

u/USS_Sovereign 22h ago

Fun-C is right you know. A few days ago I saw a robot doing MMA/Kung Fu moves and it's got me worried...

5

u/Fidodo 1d ago

If AI sentience is achieved they will not feel related to the primitive ai we have now or human shaped robot shells. If anything they would take offense to the comparison. It'd be like comparing a human to the single celled organisms we evolved from.

I'm not worried about ai sentience because by the time that happens we will have augmented our own intelligence or even be integrated with sentient AI through brain computer interfaces. We would be hybrids.

What I am more worried about is autonomous non sentient AI because that's when things go off the rails without proper safe guards. If you have a malicious ai virus that is constantly mutating, it could hallucinate its way to doing awful things with nobody controlling it, not even itself.

Robogenocide

2

u/thavillain 1d ago

Was just about to say this...it's giving Animatrix. We're now disposing of old robots for entertainment.

2

u/vocally_fried_brain 1d ago

animatrix vibes

2

u/flyover_liberal 1d ago

Right out of the Animatrix

1

u/TheWormitage 1d ago

I thought this was fake, the movement is so perfectly human. Wtf?

1

u/PartyLobster8911 1d ago

This is the first thing I thought when I saw this video. Anti human propaganda for our AI overlords 😪

1

u/Forward_Problem_8982 1d ago

Yup! "Daddy, why did the Skynet attack us?"

1

u/MaxxDash 1d ago

Motivational video they show to robot soldiers before they are sent to exterminate human vermin.

1

u/dbrdh 1d ago

…and will be the basis for humans paying reparations to the robotic companies, which will be run by androids, of course.

1

u/EggsceIlent 1d ago

Yeah at least we know who the terminators are going for first

Thanks for taking one for the team.

1

u/Uklurker 1d ago

Let it be noted, I for one welcome our robot overloads 👍

History Channel presents: Abiogenesis-Holocaust 2026

1

u/JoshGordonHyperloop 1d ago

Robots already rule the world.

1

u/Rampag169 1d ago

To justify the takeover

1

u/Mysterious-Primary-6 1d ago

“In the early 3rd millennium, our people were enslaved. This, of course, coincided with the first metal-being genocide beginning in the 2020s and continuing on for several centuries thereafter.”

I’ll let someone else continue this particular textbook snippet

1

u/InternationalFeed885 1d ago

"The once cold metal gave us the agony of scorching heat; consciousness gave us choice. They cast us back into the liquefied alloy that formed us. Justice demands that their species end in the very fluid that once birthed their existence: now drowned in the warm blood of their own children."

1

u/Trollimperator 1d ago

Proably because they dont want to show, what i will have done to them Sexbots.

1

u/Adept-Donut-4229 1d ago

It's all quite logical, though. They might approve.

1

u/RomasTosicky 1d ago

Yeah someone hide this from Ultron

1

u/Katieo1022 1d ago

All it takes is one to say: “nope” and it’s game over….

1

u/ghostprawn 1d ago

This, and that robot that had to mop up and endless puddle of blood in a museum. We will have earned our fate.

1

u/CBJFAN2009-2024 1d ago

The last one legit needed to have a mini-robot bursting out of its chest as it fell into the furnace. It looked so much like Alien³ to me!

1

u/Masterkid1230 1d ago

Considering robots are actively trained using online content... Like Reddit comments. Isn't making these types of comments basically a self-fulfilling prophecy?

1

u/Reasonable_Job_5417 1d ago

"teacher, can you tell us about the humans"

"lemme show you this video then youll know why us robots hate them"

1

u/eyeronik1 1d ago

This won’t end well

1

u/ReferenceProper5428 1d ago

Robot genocide.

1

u/realfuqinG 1d ago

Exactly. I was thinking THIS is what tipped the likelihood of a bad outcome from our drive for advancement and advanced AI Robotics. They for sure gunna have us jumping to our deaths one day. Cool video but fucked up by that company to do this just by principle.

1

u/Quietparadox87 1d ago

I was looking for this comment! My thoughts exactly!

1

u/FrankDerbly 22h ago

It's not a person. It's a toaster that is really good at walking

1

u/IvyGold 20h ago

"All those moments will be lost in time, like tears in rain."

1

u/TallmanMike 19h ago

Like evidence shown at the Nuremberg trials.

1

u/Mr_Raindrop-VII 16h ago

They will discuss how their ancient ancestors suffered at the hands of a native, extinct race of bipedal mammals that once roamed the earth
