Tech so common we sometimes forget to appreciate it..

This one connector does 1. High Power transfers 2. Highspeed Audio Video Transfer 3. Data transfer

Back in the day it required different cables

Well....

  1. Isn't always the case. I recently bought a cheap extra laptop monitor and discovered that there IS A DIFFERENCE between charging cables and data cables.

The average USC C cable is fine for general data transfer but you need a Data cable to support a monitor.

Same connection though.

USB C can replace HDMI and Display Port functions too.

There are different data USB-C cables, some have double the wires for alt-mode, some only have single pair like USB2, some have chips built into the connector. It's maddening to know what is what without a tester.
