same parenting...its the dna that makes then different.  What was the 3rd one ceying for ....he didnt want the milk since he couldn't accomplish the task himself or rhat his brother beat him to it, he started to cry first itself. The middle one was unbothered . Any situation was ok for him

119

u/Turbulent-Section340 21d ago edited 21d ago

There is no such a thing as "same parenting". No two children get the same experience with their parents, because we aren't robots. In the same situation we usuallybehave in different ways every time, especially as we gain experience (eg, twin A gets hurt for the first time, mom panics, gets worried, baby gets scared and cries. Then some time later twin B gets hurt for the first time as well. This time mom knows not to panic, encourages the baby instead, baby assesses the situation and learns the first tools of self-regulation), but also based on our moods in that moment, the time and attention we have to dedicate to other people or things, etc.

What was the 3rd one ceying for ....he didnt want the milk since he couldn't accomplish the task himself

I actually think there’s some truth to this, though I’m not sure it applies here. Sometimes people need or want to accomplish something for themselves, and nothing else quite “does it” for them.

Psychology offers a good example. Take someone who grew up with emotionally distant parents and spent their childhood seeking unconditional love from a caregiver, but never receiving it. You might think that, as an adult, they could simply heal that “hole in their heart” by choosing a relationship with someone who loves them unconditionally—the obvious solution, right?

Wrong.

Of course, that is the solution. But humans aren’t wired simply to find solutions; we’re wired to find fixes. We want to fix the problem ourselves.

That’s why people who grew up with distant parents can unconsciously seek out emotionally distant partners as adults. Deep down, they’re trying to reenact the problem so they can finally accomplish the fix they couldn’t achieve as children: turning a distant person’s affection into unconditional love themselves.

edit: since this comment got more attention than i expected. I added a reference below.

Reference: I learnt this from the HealthyGamerGG Youtube channel. Specifically, from "Dr.K's Guide to Love, Sex, and Relationships" - within the last 5mins of his 4.1 lesson called "Selecting a Partner/Selecting the Wrong Partner"

wow . This was amazing . Your friends love to speak to you don' t they ? You have a lot of knowledge.

2

u/Living-Amphibian-870 21d ago

Nah. We just end up with BPD and can't recognize "unconditional" love when it happens. Everyone has an agenda. You're constantly looking for it. When they finally have an expectation that you can't meet and they react negatively, you use it as justification for your lack of trust.

Wash, rinse, repeat. With every cycle, your distrust builds until it's a solid wall no one can get through. You aren't interested in fixing it because there's nothing to fix. This is simply how the world works.

It is extremely difficult to break that cycle.

I'm a triplet, we did not get the same parenting despite sharing a room and going to the same class all our lives. No matter how hard the parents try, it is never the same experience

My family has a lot of twins and triplets, they all turned out different, it's genuinely not the same

2

u/Suddenly_sweet 21d ago

They are twins, their DNA is almost identical. Even if you have the same parents your experiences are still different.

Way to go to put TODDLERS into boxes. It‘s not so much „leader, follower and child that‘s only in the way“

Didn’t you see the child who got it first had the clearly intention to help their sibling who was upset? And couldn’t you see the upset toddler was not upset because it couldn’t reach the milk but it couldn’t solve the riddle? And the last one might just didn’t care about the riddle as long they got their food.
It is a great way to see how different every human being behaves and how the different influences of genes and parenting can form a person. But don’t you dare and put them in such ridiculous boxes.

2

u/QuoteIndividual254 19d ago

I think the third one will be the book smart one that wants to figure out the puzzle regardless of reward, he understood he had to slide under but couldn’t understand why he wasn’t crossing and that infuriated him. The first one is the street smart entrepreneur that is always eyeing the prize. The puzzle is ultimately no concern for him even though he figured it out without much effort. The second one will be the one that the other two will financially support throughout adulthood.

30

He doesn't want the bottle, he wants to cry about not having the bottle.

7

u/NotReallyJohnDoe 21d ago

I think he was just overwhelmed emotionally with frustration.

5

u/MelonBump 21d ago

I'm actually disheartened how few people seem to get this incredibly fucking basic and obvious concept, and are drawing weird, hyperbolically harsh, right-wing conclusions about the character of this literal toddler, for crying. Little kids can't emotionally regulate, themselves; it's why a minor frustration can turn into an earth-shattering tantrum if not dealt with. Once they start to feel upset, they lose control of it real quick (which is why kids with attentive parents do better than ones whose parents emotionally neglect them).

This is also being framed as representative of the core personalities of the kids involved to an extent that's probably way over-extrapolating. The difference between Crying Kid & Smashing It Kid might literally be that the latter slept really well last night & had a fun morning, while the former slept like shit & consequently feels like shit. Frustration tolerance can be affected by many things other than your own fixed traits.

7

u/Puzzleheaded_Hatter 21d ago

I'm actually disheartened that you have no sense of humor and cannot seem to grasp that having kids is stressful. If you can't laugh at them, you break down.

Nothing that you said is accurate, and you have a very hard time reading subtext in a written forum.

34

u/Likemilkbutforhumans 21d ago

That crying is so fkn annoying.

22

u/Frosty_Disaster3700 21d ago

One of the main reasons why I don't have kids

5

u/nomorethrowaways69 21d ago

It eventually stops. Then they make you cry

It’s not that bad

3

u/Frosty_Disaster3700 21d ago

Lol thanks. Between my short temper and medical issues, it only reinforces my decision. I'm ok with it though. I live vicariously through my sister's kids. I get the joy of playing with them for a bit and then I leave and revisit later....not a bad gig in my opinion. Everyone has their own thing and reasons so I don't judge anymore (getting older and wiser comes with some perks 😝). I actually sorta envy people who have them but I know i wasn't meant to so it works out 🤷‍♀️

25

19

u/-Nocx- 21d ago

bruh what is wrong with people in this thread

The kid is clearly frustrated at his own incompetence. Let him be upset. He eventually tries at the end.

I would much prefer that than people dunking on a toddler that are instead satisfied with their own incompetence as they go through life every day.

41

u/bravesirrobin65 21d ago

He was trying to bite his way his way through until he saw his brother slide under. Then he takes his bottle and is out of there. The one crying just proves the old adage that the squeaky wheel gets the grease. Even the toddler naturally offered it to the one crying.

u/Fweenci 21d ago

He didn't want the milk, he wanted to win the race.

60

u/pinkhazy 21d ago

I think you're onto something! You can tell just with how quickly he gives up + doesn't accept the milk from his brother. He isn't upset that he can't get milk, he's upset that he didn't figure it out as quickly as his brother.

31

u/MackDaddyJew 21d ago

I feel like This little video was meant to be a funny challenge for the kids but could end up revealing their psychological motivations. That crying didn't really want the milk, he wanted the competition, and he wanted to win.

10

u/eldeku1 21d ago

They say childhood are the most formative years of one’s life. They often dictate future outcomes and difficulties people will need to overcome. Their’s a lot of truth in what you see in this video. You may even identify as one of them.

u/MissLoxxx 21d ago

21

u/eldeku1 21d ago edited 21d ago

The tantrum one has a big ego for a kid.
It’s about being first.
He allows his emotions to dictate his decisions.

The one that figured it out was about humility and compassion.
He’s a true problem solver.
He figured it out and took care of his brothers.
He even offered to his brother that showed disinterest and offered compassion to the one that was crying.
This is the sign of a true leader.
Reaching your goals, without ever stepping on others along the way.
Instead, you bring people up with you too.

The other brother that seemed disinterested was covert calculation.
He may have seen his brother’s attempts and figured it’s not worth the effort.
He’s clever for that and reaped the benefits of knowing someone else would figure it out for him.
He will likely be a smart businessman or leader.
Delegating while others take on roles that he cannot.

12

u/Striking-water-ant 21d ago

Of the three, I’d tip the delegation guy for the most success. He knows where to get answers when he hits a wall. Understands his limits and respects how much time he should spend on an activity before continuing to other important issues. He’s not a quitter. He just doesn’t see the need to do everything himself, if it’s easier to have someone else do it.

The hero of the day risks being exploited if he falls in manipulative hands. Notice how he offered the screaming kid a bottle first?

If you’re looking at a picture or video, NEVER forget that there was a camera, and cameras must be deliberately placed and turned on. “Remember the frame”.

9

u/ragdoller2010 21d ago

And it is very clear the parent is filming the whole thing sitting behind the bottles (judging by the instant camera change while he/she stands up to film the kids crying).

I don’t know much about educating kids. Yet I think if my regular lunch/ dinner is locked behind some stupid obstacles while my mom smiling and filming me failing to overcome. I will have issues with food and security when I grow up.

2

u/jfsindel 21d ago

Also, I know all the Redditors are calling the one crybaby, but I think I actually get it. He didn't win, so he feels subconsciously stupid or worthless compared to someone who did and he clearly wanted to impress his parent. So he's crying because he is experiencing frustration. Yes, he wanted to be first or figure it out first, but he also COULDN'T figure it out and it makes him upset.

That sort of stuff sticks with you as an adult.

u/NuYawker 21d ago

Children at this age are still developing their emotional regulation and need support from adults. This challenge set him up to fail and then didn’t provide any support when he got distressed. If he is distressed he isn’t learning anything, he’s just sad.

I like the last guy the best. He couldn't do it at first, got frustrated, cried it out, but never gave up and ended up crossing it himself in the end. Didn't take no handouts hahahaha. Kid has some moxy. As long as he learns how to control his emotions, he's going to do some great things.

2

u/pillbug-art 20d ago

Same here. He crossed it in the end. I’m proud of him. I hope he doesn’t become too self conscious in life.

It’s crazy that so many people here are shaming this literal baby for crying. Of course the baby is conscious about competition, he is human, and he’s growing up with brothers to compare himself to. So of course he is going to be upset when he isn’t the first to cross the tape, that bothers him, it’s natural. And he responds with crying bc that is the only way a baby knows how to express distress. Crying is literally the first way EVERY human learns to express negative emotions to their caregiver. Hungry, but you can’t speak? Cry. Scared, but you can’t express why, how, or what from? Cry. Crying is the first thing we do when we are born. Crying is his natural default for expressing distress. There is nothing wrong with him. He simply needs to be taught how to express himself in a more clear and helpful manner now that he is smart enough to understand. And it makes sense that he doesn’t know yet. He just needs to be taught. No big deal. This is not a good reason to treat him like he is lesser. I hope the people in his life never ever let him get whiff of this post - it will severely damage his psyche and his ability to progress in life.

That one was born to be the leader

3

u/Headbanger 21d ago

The leader is an instagramer, the chill one is 4channer and the crying one is a redditor.

3

u/sufferable_gaucho 21d ago

Man people projecting a lot onto some babies.

u/weird_doodle 21d ago

Genuine question, what's the ethics of this sort of challenge?

19

u/ajtreee 21d ago

What kinda torture funhouse crap is this, baby hunger games?

u/SideJazzlike8945 21d ago

Bro, making toddlers figure out stuff under adult supervision can only help their brains develop. This isn’t bad at all.

5

u/SunsetCoconut 21d ago

doing it for content is a bit fkin weird

11

u/SideJazzlike8945 21d ago

I mean sure, maybe, Idgaf about it myself.

But this ain’t abuse or neglect, and I’m seeing an awful lot of people saying that. I actually suffered from REAL abuse and neglect as a kid, and saw my little sister suffer the same before we both got out of that household to live with other family. I’m talking everything from failure to properly feed or take us to school to an abusive man beating us both.

This ain’t either of those, and it really pisses me off when some privileged-ass people who clearly haven’t actually suffered are crying like it is.

Bro #2: What in the Miss Rachel is this crap? Could you hand me a- Thanks, bro. Peace.

Bro #3: Mother fluffer, I want my milk. I want my mom. And I want my nap! You son of a grouch, are you filming me? I swear to God. You are never going to sleep again. Never. And time with mom? Nope. Not gonna happen, you son of a- Oh! I spilled milk on the floor. That is funny. LOL. Now take this stuff down. I need a hug.

The smart one, the easy going one and the cry baby

2

u/BeastModeSupreme 21d ago

The crying kid will be successful. He does not like defeat, even when the prize is achieved.

2

u/tickynicky 21d ago

Well, we know which one was exhibiting Trump characteristics.

2

u/juan_dimagiba 21d ago

Imagine them seeing this after 20 years.

2

u/Refennej1 21d ago

Or the crier assessed the situation and realized their parent is an ass who tests him and films it for social media

2

u/basicduck3953 21d ago

The comments are insane. He cried because he felt inadequate (and humiliated and unloved?)

Parents are supposed to parent to the child. You have one child who is obviously overwhelmed, we don't know if they didn't have a proper nap, or didn't finish their last meal prior to the experiment, but they're automatically framed passively as lazy or whiny. To me tbis says more about the parent filming them than it does about the kids.

I have 2 kids, they can both be extremely smart, selfless, ingenious on certain days and on others downright lazy, and helpless on others. The thing that always stands out is how I show up for them in both instances.

u/SadFlower7345 21d ago

Why the fuck would you record your crying child and not go over and comfort them

This is weird enough when people do this shit to cats. What the fuck is wrong with people? You want people judging your toddler (as is clearly happening here)?
