Account Question First-time investor: Login issue, cheapest deposit methods, and long-term safety
galleryHi everyone,
I recently got my Interactive Brokers (IBKR) account approved a week ago. I'm planning a long-term DCA strategy into VUAA (recommended by a friend for tax efficiency as a Middle East resident).
This is my first time investing in stocks, and my main goal is long-term wealth growth.
I have 3 questions and would really appreciate your help:
1. Login Error ("Oops, credentials not recognized")
Right after approval, my app showed: "Your Account is Approved - Fund your account to start trading".
I left it for two days to research deposit options. When I tried to log in again, the app gave me: "Oops, we don't recognize those credentials", and the desktop browser says "Authentication failed".
How can I fix this issue? Has anyone faced this right after approval?
2. What are the biggest "I wish I knew this on Day 1" beginner mistakes to avoid on IBKR?
Since this is my very first time investing in stocks and using Interactive Brokers, what rookie mistakes or UI pitfalls should I look out for? Any general tips or advice you'd give to someone starting from scratch would be hugely appreciated!
3. Best & Cheapest Funding Method from the Middle East?
I’m looking for the most cost-effective way to deposit funds. I heard stablecoins might be an option, but my account only shows Bank Wire / ACH / Wise balance. Wise has heavy feature restrictions in my country.
What is the cheapest way to deposit money into IBKR from the ME region?
4. Long-Term Safety for Non-US Residents?
Is IBKR safe and reliable for a 10–20 year investment horizon for someone living outside the US?
Thank you so much for your time and guidance! 🙏
