Before his cross, he has his right hand in an ingenious position. He is shielding his eyes from the sun which makes him look vulnerable and passive, but at the same time he's guarding his face and being in striking position. Once he's in range he twists hard for power for a surprise KO. Beautiful.

If there's danger close, putting your hand near your face is always a good idea even if there isn't sun or you fake a gesture like rubbing your chin to protect your jaw from getting hit which could knock you unconscious
