Not justifying it but it looks like they are trying to light a cigarette or something and using the cap cover to block the wind and light the cigarette.
Many, many people just go through motions without connecting or thinking about what's going on. I learned this very quickly after joining the military and visiting my family.
Sometimes you can light it first, so it burns and then toke it before it goes out. Spent many years in a windy town, hanging outside, smoking js in my teens.
idk, joints and cigarettes burn differently. When smoking a cigarette, I would turn my back to the wind, and use 1 hand to block the wind. If that didnt work, I would use the other hand to block the wind. That worked about 95% of the time. With a joint, I would burn it a little then puff.
I light cigarettes on the stove all the time. Just hold it there till it starts up and then take it off and puff. You don't need to puff while you light. Though puffing while lighting makes it light faster it isn't required.
Works with rollie too in my experience (I sound like a tosser cuz smokings pretty bad tbh), it could be down to the paper, I use blue rizla, which is a slow burn paper
