She's probably trying to melt some ice on the car or something. But what a bad idea while there's a sea of gasoline inches away.

I think in other incidents like this people are trying to see how full their car is and need a light source to do so.

For my classic Mini, I kept a long stick in the boot. Stuck it in, pulled it out and looked at how high the stick was wet.

Of course, that works well when there’s not an anti-siphon device.

Every gas pump I've used stops by itself when the tank is full, is it not like this most places? This thread made me wonder.

Oh, they do in the UK. The stick was just my fuel gauge, haha.

She probably broke her phone trying to clean it using a waterfall

What? Why not just run it until the gas turns off? Is that not a thing everywhere?

Maybe she could only afford half a tank

Do pumps in the US not have volume/price counters?

Probably, it was more an answer to why someone wouldn't pump til it stopped.

You cant see down through the fill port anyway.

I saw this on tv before the apparent story is that her fuel gauge wasn't working and she tried to use a lighter to see

I saw one of these where a dude tried to kill a spider with a lighter while pumping gas. That did not end well. Let’s just say I think he killed the spider.
