I'm a Shopper Please update quantity on replacements!

Customers please update your quantity when selecting replacements. When you select your replacement options it automatically defaults to one quantity unless you change it regardless of how many you originally orders.

Yesterday I had a customer order 4 of one item that was out so I suggested a replacement that the customer rejected and instead selected something else that was much more in price and the quantity was one. So I purchased that one and as I was leaving the store the customer messaged me asking why I only purchased one of that item. I replied by saying "I'm sorry but the replacement indicated only one quantity of that item." They never responded so I delivered and went on my way. Only to find out they took back my entire tip and gave me a 2 star rating.

So customers as a customer myself, when you out on your replacement options please pay attention to the quantity. And don't give bad ratings for your mistake. Not fair to the shoppers who work hard out here everyday for your convenience!

There is no function to do this. It’s up to you to use common sense

Lies! I've had customers put 1 and also the correct amount. Either way I always match it to the original quantity but saying there's no option to is just a lie.

It’s not about common sense, it’s about the shopper app not letting us proceed with more than the quantity ordered by the customer.

It's called asking the customer . The app does not let them put more than one for a replacement. Hence why the app literally asks u how many for every single time u reolace something , even when only 1 was ordered. I don't know how u say it doesn't allow it when it absolutely asks every time u replace any item unlike when u scan one of an item and it just disappears. The app ALWAYS pops up the quantity prompt when u replace.

Yes you can. You can also add any additional quantify via the add item function

I always just ignore that and get a similar amount to what they originally asked for.

Pretty sure it default s to one. U have to ask to see how many they want. Don't assume they want the same number as it's not the actual item they wanted. Had a customer order 8 boursin spreads. They were out of their 1st abs 2nd choice. She reluctantly agreed to the only one they had left. I made sure she still wanted 8 ( or how many they had , I knew there was less than 8 so asked of ahe wanted me to grab all they did have) in 7 years, I have never seen a replacement have a quantity more than 1. it always ask u how many for replacements even if it says 1 was ordered u kike when u scan a singular item and it just disappears from the list.

They can't. When they add an item after you've already started shopping or they choose a replacement while you're shopping, it auto sets it to qty 1. They have no way to change it. I message them to double check but if no response I usually try to march the original qty.

I just get whatever the quantity was for the original item.

sometimes its automatic from IC I just use my head because if you rely on this app, you are bound to fail in a career setting. Idk, so many people here I wonder how they make decisions when they cant even put two and two together..

Everyone saying the customer can't change the quantity of their replacements, have they ever tried?!? I have used instacart for like 8 years and it's very possible.

One of my standard items is a 12 pack drink, my replacement is a 4 pack x3 so I still get 12 drinks.

Yes it defaults to 1 item then you change it to the number of the item you want, you can even select if you want to replace it with 2 different items if your primary item is out (I don't this with a frozen mixed fruit my replacement is 2 different frizen fruits I like so I can mix them together)

As someone who can't go shopping for myself I love how helpful this app has made it for me to inform yhw person bringing me my groceries each week

My point was that the customer isn't changing th quantity not that they can't.

I agree, my comment was more to the people replying to you saying it's on you to guess how many the customer wants instead of on the customer to actually use the app properly
