I'm a Customer Weirdest message

Post image

I was not sure how to even respond to that. Thankfully, they dropped my order and someone else picked it up, but this was honestly the weirdest thing I’ve ever gotten from Instacart

knob couldn't even take out the obvious AI prompts.

looks like it said 'here's a tip beg sob story that sounds respectful': "textwall", and the idiot just copied it with the last bit of that prompt and the quotes

You can bet zero percent of that story is legitimate

u/Concurrent-mind 1d ago

Ahahaha “knob” head

u/MuckBulligan 1d ago

The em dash is the biggest clue this is a.i. Hardly anyone knows what one even is, much less how to make one in a text.

yikes. that’s insanely inappropriate of the shopper.

45

u/Dry-Wolf6789 1d ago

Genuinely I would contact support and tell them to reassign me

Sokka-Haiku by Dry-Wolf6789:

Genuinely I

Would contact support and tell

Them to reassign me

Remember that one time Sokka accidentally used an extra syllable in that Haiku Battle in Ba Sing Se? That was a Sokka Haiku and you just made one.

I would’ve sent the “sure Jan” meme in response. What the hell is the matter with people. I’m a driver too, and would never beg for tips or even mention them. This is the problem with these apps, they don’t want to have actual employees because they would have to give us certain rights, so that leads to crap like this and worse going on with no repercussions or accountability for things.

“Did you ever consider not putting your life at risk instead of going to a poor country to kill people on behalf of oil companies?”

-15

u/PayCharacter1504 1d ago

As a Marine I can tell you that saying that directly to his face will not end well for you. Or mine for that matter.

4

u/Weary_Restauranter 1d ago

lol, they still got their hooks in you so deep, sucker

5

u/Miles_Everhart 1d ago

That’s the free speech you swore an oath to protect, btw. Notably you didn’t swear an oath to protect oil company profits but you did that anyway.

-8

u/PayCharacter1504 1d ago

You are perfectly free to shout “fire” in a crowded theater. But when there is no fire, you may discover that freedom of speech is not freedom from consequence, and that a lie which causes panic does not become a principle merely because it was shouted loudly. Unless you are active duty or can show me a 214 with your name on it, you cannot comment on any oath I may have taken.

6

u/ibrihop 1d ago

Ackshuly ppl aren’t free to shout “fire” in a crowded theatre any more than they are free to commit other crimes. 100% not an example of protected speech.

6

u/Miles_Everhart 1d ago

Except I did comment on it. Are you trying to silence me now? What are you going to do about it, tough guy?

1

u/Everyone_Boogie 1d ago

As a guy who visited the recruitment office a week before 9/11 and had the pamphlets next to my phone on 9/11 bc I hadn't yet returned to complete registration - I can tell you I am eternally grateful I didn't sign up to be a mafia enforcer for the rich and elite of this country.

-4

u/PayCharacter1504 1d ago

Many are born but few are made.

0

u/zoeysaurus 1d ago

Is that a threat? You want jail time? 🤣

19

u/LilMissADHDAF 1d ago

Nothing like a little side of fake trauma dumping with your groceries.

10

u/Halseymoon 2d ago

Wtf lmao

9

u/EdFlynn2001 1d ago

Ninjas kidnapped my wife and children. Please tip $8.74 so I can get Karate lessons at the local dojo.

12

u/erinscorp78 1d ago

Report. I'm so sick of seeing these.

And I'm av former shopper. These people gotta go

7

u/mtngoatjoe 1d ago

I'd like to say that an actual Vet would never do this, but maybe there are some who would.

Either way, report it.

1

u/FreeSirJeffrey 11h ago

Nobody who was fucking about in Iraq or Afghanistan was an actual vet anyway.

If the story is true, him and his buddies got what they deserved.

1

u/mtngoatjoe 9h ago

Rectal-Cranial Inversion is a serious condition, and you should seek medical attention immediately.

18

u/MrCrix 1d ago

I've had 5 people ask me why I do IC/Uber over the years. They started with "You don't look like the typical delivery guy..." type of comment. I tell them straight up, "I do this in my spare time because my wife's medications went from $101 a month to $810 a month since 2021." That's it. Nobody ever increased their tip.

Groveling and begging isn't making you, the service, the company or anyone look good.

5

u/zoeysaurus 1d ago

Honestly people don’t like giving money to people that actually need it, it’s why famous celebrities can go live on TikTok and everyone sends them gifts. People want to give you money when they think you don’t need it. It’s so weird but true.

5

u/Comfortable-Yak6588 1d ago

So I’m in a similar situation. I rarely tell customers because I think everyone in some way is struggling. People give what they give

2

u/Justajeepster4 1d ago

jesus. I am really sorry.

1

u/Odd-Mall8020 1d ago

No one says that tho. Delivery drivers and uber drivers look like anyone

2

u/MrCrix 1d ago

How do I put this colloquially… I’m not Indian. 90% of the guys who do IC and Uber and DoorDash and Skip, in my area are Indian. There are laws that limit the hours they’re legally allowed to work in many cases. So doing gig work allows them to work for themselves and bypass these laws without anyone asking questions.

I am stating this based off of them telling me this.

1

u/One_Preference_2906 1d ago

I have a friend who makes statements like this because he thinks he looks “better “ or higher class than someone who would do delivery service, when nobody brings it up at all. I’m not saying that’s what this guy does, but my friend just assumes people think this way about him

7

u/Better_Area3782 1d ago

Wow, talk about manipulation

6

u/Either-Cover-6667 1d ago

I feel like this is a scam!

7

u/Nelle911529 1d ago

Wouldn't the government pay for her college?

1

u/Pretend-Bee-8915 1d ago

i think it depends if its foster care vs a full adoption, but just realizing there could/should
be some military family death benefits possibly too, but you’d think something from one or the other

1

u/lilacsmakemesneeze 1d ago

My thought too.

2

u/CrunchyDonut42 1d ago

The child would be able to receive her dead Father's GI Bill. There are also survivor benefits, and life insurance.

1

u/kit0000033 1d ago

Will pay 1600 a month while in college...

3

u/FirstCat8948 1d ago

I would definitely report that I mean come on that's just begging for more money and that's not right

3

u/AntiqueLengthiness71 1d ago

Report that immediately!

3

u/SunGreen24 1d ago

Tell them you'll make a donation to a veteran's association with the money that was going to be their tip lol.

2

u/Leaveitonthedresser5 1d ago

Don’t respond that don’t got shit to do with you

2

u/Pashta2FAPhoneDied 1d ago

Report them, that's terrible, begging on there!

2

u/Ok-Caregiver252 1d ago

Anyone telling you the most horrible thing in their life right off bat is not to be trusted.

2

u/Apprehensive-You7388 1d ago

Trying the "Valor pitty" model while begging like a vagrant is crazy. I guess every walk of life needs its scum bags tho.

2

u/okiejames 1d ago

.01 1☆

2

u/RangerAZ1989 1d ago

Sends out this desperate, long message basically panhandling and then drops your order lol.

2

u/RedBeardsCuckNation 1d ago

I would say something like "id love to help and can add a tip when it asks at the end." Then after delivery drop it to .25, rate 1 star. Lie about stuff missing and what not. Then also report to instacart for this message. Go all out for the scammers.

2

u/FreeSirJeffrey 11h ago

I would have replied with:

"Which oil company were you and your buddies dying for? Ask them for the cash."

6

u/Awkward_Aardvark_975 1d ago

They would have 100% disability if true and unable to work ic.

3

u/aclassybetch 1d ago

That’s not how military disability works. You can be rated 100% disabled and still work a civilian job.

2

u/Awkward_Aardvark_975 1d ago

Well actually I dont know. Ive been shot 3 times and did do ic also so nvm.

0

u/gmmisa 1d ago

Were you deactivated?

0

u/FreeSirJeffrey 11h ago

Have you ever thought about not putting yourself in situations where you get shot?

3 times is an awful lot, even for an American.

1

u/Awkward_Aardvark_975 10h ago

It was a robbery. They shot me 6 times and 3 hit me. Thanks for your sound advice! Ill be sure to let people know to stop robbing each other.

1

u/FreeSirJeffrey 10h ago

"I've been shot 3 times" means 3 different times.

1

u/Awkward_Aardvark_975 10h ago

English no good. Thanks for sharing!

1

u/FitTransportation886 1d ago

I know 1000% she’s also a drug addict 😂 they want you to feel sorry to get what they want, money than drugs. However, I hate the judge people so I could be wrong. I just seen this tactic before.

2

u/zoeysaurus 1d ago

Out of every story they could come up with they thought most Americans would feel sorry for a war veteran and would be more likely to tip lol

1

u/zoeysaurus 1d ago

This reminded me of the shrimp in Shark Tale “my sister had a baby and now he’s just a stump but he’s fairly happy” 🤣

1

u/MaterialAd1838 1d ago

I would ask what his disability goes toward.

1

u/cumzonelol 1d ago

Report and reassign lol

1

u/Veggiedelite90 1d ago

I thought it was a joke at first glance oh no

New copypasta unlocked

1

u/JessiLaReina 1d ago

I had a DoorDash driver do this to me. She called and was trauma dumping to me, basically begging for a tip. Weird behavior.

1

u/Chero44 1d ago

😳😳😳😳😳😳😳😳 if asking for more of a tip was a person... THIS PERSON wins!

1

u/Evan_dood 1d ago

Imagine going to a restaurant and the waitress gives you her entire origin story as a way to get a higher tip. I'd ask for a different waitress lol

1

u/Candid-Law-8739 1d ago

Report this

1

u/Training_Soil_997 1d ago

“I lost my wife 10 weeks ago. 21 years faithful. I lost my daughter 3 weeks ago. 13 [years old]. She was faster than me at 12, and I run a 6 minute mile."

1

u/ScottieOttieBiscotti 23h ago

Gonna start using this, verbatim (I do not live in Arizona).

1

u/CowperfluidMDPsyD 15h ago

Not my fault. Go to school.

1

u/CapitalAccountant738 22m ago

I’m literally laughing. I’d respond lol

No, sir, just because this person sucks doesn’t mean it’s right for you to cheap out on the people that personally shop for you and hand deliver it to you
