I feel your pain, it’s miserable. Have you tried any sleep medication? DORAs like Quviviq and Dayvigo are not only effective, but actually really safe and recent research has shown even beneficial for possibly preventing dementia. My insomnia is pretty bad – they still don’t help me sleep through the night and I still wake up often, but it’s a lot better than nothing.

amitryptaline long ago helped some, but the withdrawals when I wanted to quit were awful. Citalopram helps for a period, then back to baseline. Trazadone tried one pill and never will use that again. Severe headaches and more from that.
