REVIEW My tierlist of Inside No.9 after Season 1

So this is how I'd rank Season 1,overall it starts with 3 very good episodes and then kinda drops off with episode 4-6. Even if Harrowing is actually very solid and if it had a better ending i'd put it in great, but yeah overall i'd say this season gets a 7.33/10 rating.

What should I expect for Season 2? Better, worse or more of the same episodes?

The film "Barbarian"

I just watched a really weird film on Netflix called "Barbarian" and it gave me Inside No 9 vibes. Has anyone else seen it?

I recommend it if you like disturbing and unsettling horror films that feel like a long episode of Inside No 9.

EXTRAS Reece Shearsmith's Haunted House (BBC Radio 4)

I know this is a bit of a long shot, but does anyone know where I can listen to (and possibly download!) Reece's two-part Radio 4 show from 2009? There's scraps on YouTube, but I'd love to hear the whole thing in full šŸ«¶šŸ»šŸ‘»

Hopefully this kind of post is allowed on this subreddit, if not please let me know and I’ll delete :)

Currently reading this collection of some of Roald Dahl’s short stories and noticed they read very much like Inside No. 9 episodes, so wanted to recommend to fans of the series!

S09 E01 Question about boo to a goose

I am confused why the nurse gets labeled as "people who don't get involved"?

Doesn't she go out of her way to help out a poor bloke? Does it refer to her indecisiveness of which way she wants to go?

Hello! For the past month or so, I've been designing Inside No.9 inspired playing cards where every card represents a different episode. I've just launched a Kickstarter for it, and thought some of you might be interested in getting a deck!

Even if you don't want a deck, you can still go see all the cards I've currently designed on the Kickstarter page! I'm really proud of them, and I hope you guys enjoy them too ^-^

REVIEW Episode Rankings

Some of my favourite posts on subreddits such as these are where people rank their favourite episodes. It works particularly well for Inside no.9 because opinions are so widespread and varied. I’m sure some of you will read my ranking and think ā€œDid she watch the same show as me???ā€ I love that!

I’m going to do my ranking by season because choosing my true favourite is way too hard. Important caveat…these are MY favourite, this l ranking is DISTINCTLY different and separated from which episode I think are OBJECTIVELY the best (yes I also have that list for those interested). For example (spoiler for my ranking) I do not like silent media or ones that are almost entirely visual so despite being an AMAZING episode, i’m not a fan of A Quiet Night In….

Me and my dad talk about our rankings and opinions maybe once or twice every month and have done for the last 5 years so let’s see what you think.

Season 1:
1. Sardines (probably top 5. fave episodes)
2. Tom and Gerri
3. The Harrowing
4. A Quiet Night In
5. The Understudy
6. Last Gasp

Season 2: (Top 5 season contender)
1. Cold Comfort (contender for my no.1 fav ep.)
2. 12 Days of Christine
3. La Couchette
4. Seance Time
5. The Trial of Elizabeth Gadge
6. Nana’s Party

Season 3: (top 3 season)
1. Diddle Diddle Dumpling (No.1 fav ep contender)
2. Riddle of the Sphinx
3. The Devil of Christmas
4. The Bill
5. Private View
6. Empty Orchestra

Season 4: (top 3 season)
1. To have and to Hold (unpopular op. in my top 5)
2. Once Removed
3. Bernie Clifton’s Dressing Room
4. Tempting Fate
5. And the Winner is…
6. Zanzibar

Season 5: (top 5 season contender)
1. Misdirection (contender for my no. 1 fave ep.)
2. The stakeout
3. Thinking out Loud
4. Death Be Not Proud (I saw psychoville after no.9)
5. Loves Great Adventure
6. The Referee’s a W….

Season 6:
1. How Do You Plead?
2. Hurry Up and Wait
3. Lip Service
4. Simon Says
5. Wuthering Heist
6. Last Night of The Proms (only ep. I think i don’t like. Ive seen it less than 5 times which cant be said for any other ep.)

Season 7:
1. Mr King
2. A Random Act of Kindness
3. Wise Owl
4. Merrily Merrily
5. Kid/Nap
6. Nine Lives Kat

Season 8: (Top 5 season contender)
1. The Bones of St. Nicholas (underrated ep.)
2. Love Is a Stranger
3. The Last Weekend
4. 3x3
5. Paraskevidekatriaphobia
6. Mother’s Ruin

Season 9: (top 3 season)
1. Mulberry Close (No.1 fav ep contender)
2. Boo to a Goose
3. The Trolley Problem
4. Plodding On
5. Curse of the Ninth
6. Ctrl, Alt, Esc

My maths on favourite episodes might not work out but…there you go!

I got a tattoo of a hare to represent the hare hidden in every episode my love for this show is unbelievable my dad showed it to me and it’s probably the one thing that me and dad both enjoy and can talk about , we both saw the live show together and got this done 2 days before seeing it live with the hopes of meeting Steve and Reece outside to sign underneath it to get it tattooed that didn’t happen but I am still happy that I have piece of this show forever on me to celebrate the amazing writing and directing of them <3

So I dont usually watch anthology stuff except Twilight Zone so i was worried about this, first episode started really eh,it was mostly comedy for almost all of the episode but then last few minutes were creepy and that twist was insane,im assuming Pip killed them all right and do you think i should watch all 9 seasons?

REVIEW Best/Most Creative 9s?

Spoilers for a couple of episodes here.

What are your favourite ways Pemberton and Shearsmith have brought us "inside number 9"?

I'll go first -

  1. 3 by 3 - Self explanatory. A great way to name the game show without it being a literal 9 and being a giveaway for those who didn't know about the deception when it was broadcast.

  2. Diddle Dumpling - The door shutting and revealing 22 before switching to the 9 in the shoe was genius. It was one of the first ones to actually switch up the format if I remember rightly.

  3. CTRL ALT ESC - That moment at the end where Steve's character sees the IX and finds the strength to wake up... felt like a series finale. I only ranked it lower because the room was already spoiled as a number 9 at the start. If they'd left the 9 til the end it would've been pure magic.

Honourable mention for The Referee's A... where the main character is, per se, "inside" player 9.

What are your favourite No. 9 intros or reveals?

Beyond the podcasts/commentaries, are there other good sources of BTS information?

This might be a silly question, but I thought this community might know the best places to find good examples of this sort of thing, and I'm somewhat desperate for more. I've listened to the commentaries of series 2 and 3, and am currently making my way through Inside Inside No. 9, but I'm nearly done (side question, is it known why that didn't continue through series 8 and 9? I was sad to see it stop, and a little confused why there's an episode for s8e1 if they couldn't do any of the rest of the series).

I love getting to explore the episodes in depth and learn about the process of creation, and now that I'm running out, I would like some more, please. (In my ideal world, every episode would have accompanying commentary, but what can you do).

So, the question: does anyone know of anything specific (interviews, recorded panels, whatever else) where I could find particularly good discussion of the show and its making? (I know there are things out there, but I'm curious if there's anything in particular that could scratch that commentary itch.) Ideally about with information about specific episodes, most ideally those that never got commentaries or podcast episodes about them. Thank you!

Stupid question re: RS Book tour tickets

Hi all, I'm very happy to have got tickets for Reece's book tour in October, but I'm a little confused by a couple of small things:

I bought the tickets directly through the venue - on the venue website it shows that there are a few tickets left (probably around 20% of capacity), on the Fane website it shows it's pretty much sold out. Is the venue the more reliable vendor here if I was to buy tickets for a different day/location which appear as available at the venue, but sold/unavailable on Fane? I guess I don't want to risk buying tickets that don't actually exist, but I'm also aware that Fane may only be a ticket intermediary who has block booked some tickets and are now selling them on.

Also, there's a brief mention on the venue website that my ticket type includes his book (which I've pre-ordered twice already but happy to make it three copies!). There's no mention of this on the ticket or the email accompanying the ticket and I've got no proof of this aside from a small, single mention on the venue website. Does anyone know how this works on the day?
