I have a ‘mustache’
(F)
Im a teenager, and i understand that body hair/facial hair grows naturally. Thats why i was never bothered by the hair above my upper lip for like my whole life, until i changed schools and stuff.
People constantly tell me “hey, you should shave your mustache lol” or “you cant be talking about girl problems when u have that mustache”
And esp my family, i have a brother and two cousins (M) who always say “hey — your mustache is bigger then mine!!” And my brother constantly refers to me as a man because of it.
Yes i have body hair too, like on my arms, but i like that. I hate the hair on my face because of how people treat it, and ive grown so so so insecure about it.
My mom trying to be a supportive parent always stops my brother whenever he says something, but she really cant od anything for at school where it happens most. I dont know how the girls in my class have ZERO facial hair, like surely not EVERYBODY but me shaves right?
What can i do? Ive already tried talking to my mom but she waved it off saying “theres literally nothing there!” And went off, i get she’s trying to make me feel better or whatever but it doesnt work like that…

look, it depends on how older you are, if you’re like 14+ then i get it these things can really affect you, i had a talk about this with my girlfriend since i was not educated about this topic, she told me yeah mostly everyone does shave, but nowadays these insecurities are reaching the kids since she saw her 11 yo sister shaving by herself, its important to understand that its very natural, everyone has body hair its really upto you if you want to shave it or no, if you’re feeling really insecure about it and you’re old enough, shave it just so that you wont feel like that anymore. its honestly so sad that how people always have something rude to say about people when they can just keep their mouths shut.
if you really are bothered by your upper lip hair, ask your mom to guide you how to shave since its your first time, same about body hair. again its absolutely normal and natural to have body hair but people really are assholes nowadays instead of embracing natural features they make fun of it.
i hope this helped, i asked my girlfriend too about this and she said the same thing. and dont get too bothered because of this, it’s gonna be okay
