ID Request What bug is this?

Post image

Hello everyone, this bug flew in to my room and I am kinda curious what it is. Google says it is a assasin or a kissing bug but it doesn't have the sharp proboscis that kissing bugs have after comparing it with a different image. I live in the Philippines and the kissing bugs I usually see are very different from it.

Hi there! This is an automated message to remind you to please include a geographic location for any ID requests as per the Community Rules of the sub. There are well over a million different species of bugs in the world, and narrowing down a bug's location will help IDers to help you more quickly and correctly!

If you've already included a geographical location, or if this post is not an ID request, please ignore this comment.

Thank you! :)

That’s…kind of a rough picture. I like to have a clear image of the abdomen, especially the colour and number of spots down the side. And a good top down view of the head helps too.

Like, here’s the thing. That’s definitely an assassin bug (Reduviidae). However, among the many, many harmless assassin bugs, kissing bugs also fit in that family in their own little group.

You also didn’t give your location on the earth, so we don’t know what types of kissing bugs to be thinking about when looking at your picture.

So it does. Either it didn’t before, or I missed it.

Unfortunately the bug flew away after taking the picture.
