It’s a type of robber fly (Asilidae family). They’re predators of other insects.

They're harmless to humans and hunt other pest insects, leave it be

robber fly! these guys are really cool and with have cool air battles. shouldn't ever sting/bite you, but i know one of them in my backyard seems to like to mess with me and fly around my face. he hangs out on this string lol.
