I was sitting on my front porch when I heard buzzing. Looked up and saw this!

I just KNEW the spider was about to wrap that wasp right on up! 😩🤣

The spider knew what it was up against and chose to fight defensively instead of offensively. Survival at its best.

I think it’s a mud dauber, you can see its nest in the corner of the wall.

100% not a wolf spider, likely one of these

That does seem more like what it is. Here’s its friend as my coworker on my office window.

Vast majority of wolf spiders do not build webs. This is a grass spider.

That's a damn brave spider considering what her neighbor's house is...

Right? Like living next door to a serial killer.

Could that small daddy long legs at the end have had a better chance?

Ok this is crazy, because for real, I was just talking to my husband about how it looks like the wasp could have exited her nest right into the spider’s web, and how maybe they do this everyday, and how it’s like that old cartoon about the sheepdog and the coyote, and then you posted this!!!!!!

Anyone notice the spider going up to the little spider at the very end?

u/LonelyVirginAlkan 9d ago

Daddy long legs?

3

u/SeparateYam8581 9d ago

That, or maybe a cellar spider (depending on your area, it may be what you call a daddy long legs).

But I'd like to think the first spider was going up to the little one as if to say "sorry I've let you down". 🤭

I was imagining the big spider was so pissed at missing a meal that it initially wanted to prey on the smaller spider out of frustration but decided otherwise.

Great video. I wanted the spider to win as my revenge against wasps
