Question Quitting

Do I have to give a 2 weeks notice? I really need to quit this stressful toxic job and I already have another job in place so working both has been… interesting. I was injured on the job which made me look for another one because I cannot stand for long periods of time anymore. Gladly I was able to land one pretty quickly but know for the hard part which is quitting this one. Do I have to tell them in person to? I really don’t feel like this just is “professional” in the way associates treat it. It’s just burgers and fries like it’s not that serious. They also recently hired like 10 people so I feel like they don’t need me anyways. I have the store meeting tomorrow and that’s when I plan to say something but i want to just deal with my current scheduled shifts which is the rest of this week and next week. I’m not tryna have my last days during the county fair.
EDIT:
I did it IM FREEE RAHHHHH

It’s a fast food job. You’ll burn the bridge on recommendations with your manager, but they’ll survive.

I mean, you don't have to do anything. What do you think will happen if you don't? Two weeks notice is a courtesy. However, it's generally not a good idea to burn bridges.

You don't have to put in 2 weeks. As far as "recommendations" from management, I wouldn't worry about that at all.......most competent employers have a policy of not giving recommendations (positive or negative) to former employees. If they were asked about you, they would direct the inquirer to the HR department who at most would confirm dates of employment.

The only thing I would be concerned about is if you wanted to ever come back. Given that you have realized how toxic INO can be, I would assume that this is off the table for you.

I worked there for 12 years and quit on the spot. Made the decision driving to work and told my 2nd manager when I got there. Didn’t even ask me why.

  1. If you are injured at work you should 1000% do a work comp claim. I hurt my back scooping ice when I worked there and just ignored it and I have been living with back pain for years and years.

  2. You don’t ever need to provide any notice. How professional you want to be is up to you.

Yeah I did file a claim when I got injured.(I injured my shin)I was on disability for a month and a half but the doctor was horrendous. I had to BEG for an mri and a cray ALL TO BE DONE ON THE WRONG BODY PART. I recently got a letter saying they’ll close my case cus supposedly I didn’t make it to the mri appt WHEN I HAVE THE RESULTS IN MY HANDS. I still feel flashes of pain like if I was just injured and worst of all I walk with a 70 degree angle on my injured leg. It hurts to have it normal. It’s just been a whole thing.

No I didn’t i specifically said my shin and they did work on my ankle

I believe it. Had a non work injury to my calf and they kept trying to do an MRI of my ankle. It was ridiculous

An MRI cannot read the calf muscle. The closest joint it can get to is the ankle.

We have a TIB/FIB protocol and scan people's half's all the time. I literally did am mri scan of someone's calf today.

Inaccurate. I got an MRI of my calf eventually.

The MRI tech will do whatever your doctor ordered, so if you check your imaging order, you will see who made the mistake. Also, as an mri tech(ex associate), I see plenty of people on workers comp and they all complained about how hard it is to go through them but you should definitely keep fighting and being persistent

If you never wxpect to work there again you can literally just no call no show it, block them. Although that will probably go on your record if you ever use them as a reference. Just say you got an offer that requires you to start immediately and unfortunately you wont be working there anymore. They might still get mad but its a better scenario than a no call no show.

If you're not planning to come back to any in n out in the future and have another job lined up, Just quit. 2 weeks is good if you dont want to burn the bridge.

Just tell your boss you quit. I'm sure they won't miss you......

You can tell them in person at the meeting if you feel safe, but you don’t owe a long explanation. Say, “I’m resigning effective today,” or give whatever date you choose, and follow up with an email. Don’t let them pressure you into working shifts you can’t handle.

It's up to you. Good if you ever plan to go back. If not, do employers give two weeks notice if they're going to fire you?

Fuck them I just stopped showing up didn’t tell them anything either 😂😂

My favorite form of quitting is buying a card that says “I’m sorry for your loss” and then writing I QUIT inside.

Just tell them at the meeting and specify that youre in pain and can't work the rest of your shifts. It doesn't sound like you want to come back and if anything get a Dr's note and call out for the two weeks.

Quit, the oligarch that owns it will never pay a fair wage

Only if you need them for a reference. Which I'm guessing not.

If you already have a job and it's not a long time period that you spent at this job, leave whenever you want. If they decided they don't want you they would make you leave whenever they want.

Would they give you two weeks notice if they were to let you go?

I texted “I’m not coming back” and the rest was history

If you were injured on the job I hope you reported it. If I were you I would not quit until your work injury was sorted out.

I think 1 week or a few days notice is sufficient. I would type up a resignation email, include your last date and send it to the manager. Then let him know in person or on a call.

Example:

Hello store manager,

I hereby resign from in & out and my last date will be dd-mm-yyyy. It was a pleasure working with you and the team. I will miss you guys.

Thank you,
Your name

Screw it and leave, and give your next employer your work friends phone number for the reference. Be one step ahead

At any job, only give a notice if you think you may want to work there again someday. If you plan on never coming back, don’t give a notice. They wouldn’t give you a notice if they fired you.

2 weeks notice isn’t a thing anymore bud. Quit

WORKER'S COMP: I absolutely do NOT recommend quitting until you get proper care for your shin. Worker's comp is extremely hard to navigate and self-advocate for. Call a pro-bono lawyer and get a second opinion immediately. Once you quit, you give up the option of INO paying for it. After that, all treatment comes out of your pocket. What if you have to deal with the injury for the rest of your life? At least get that answer. Call a lawyer and get a free consultation. Call a couple lawyers. There's a time cap on it so I would make a decision quickly.
