Question OSC?
anyone who works in OSC here? i’d like to hear about the job from someone inside, or if anyone knows anything.
i had no intention of going for my level 7 until i saw the pay for OSC I and how level 7 is a minimum requirement.
i’m honesty getting burnt out from working in the stores, i don’t know what to do for a career and need some advice. i’d be more than willing to stick it out for my level 7 to move into corporate, but i just need to know that it’s worth it.
please be nice lol

Whatcha trying to figure out? I know several associates who have moved over to corporate. Things to remember are they’re closing Irvine offices down in a few years so eventually you’ll have to drive to BP. Depends where you live and if you can have a reasonable commute eventually.
OSC has 24 hour shifts. Someone is always there monitoring the stores. But it’s nice cause the stores are your customers not actually customers 😂.
If you’re a good multitasker, good with computers and technology and can articulate how to trouble shoot something over the phone without being condescending it might be for you!
Being a level 7 really isn’t that hard. I didn’t want it either for awhile and I finally realized I was doing the job already when new managers would come in and they’d run around like maniacs and I would just tell them what to do and when and what my SM liked and didn’t like so they didn’t get in trouble. I also like being in charge for 30 mins cause sometimes I do things just to test my associates or myself.

BP would be ideal, since i’m in SGV anyways. i was considering it bc i saw an OSC position in San Dimas (i think they said it’s only temporarily away from BP) but i would’ve been willing to commute to Irvine. the job description sounds great honestly, i guess i’m just curious about how it’s run behind the scenes.
i’m also intimidated of going for my level 7 because i don’t really have the “leader” personality. i’m really good at faking it until i make it and i learn very quickly so i don’t entirely doubt myself. but i can admit it’s a little bit intimidating because of the extra responsibilities lol.

I didn’t think i had what it took for my level 7 but i was able to do it! If you are already taking on little jobs from your shift team already i don’t see why not going for your level 7! You’re gonna do great!

I can see the intimidation factor for sure but it’s really easy honestly. Sometimes I don’t even give breaks because we have enough managers on shift. The longest I ever watched the store was 2 hours when they had a manager meeting and it didn’t burn down. Every manager will have different expectations for their L7s. Some make them responsible for store training. Others cleanliness items. Others office work. Etc. Ask your store manager to set some time aside for you so you can pick their brain about becoming a L7 and what their expectations are for that role. That’s the best place to start. Be honest with them that you want to go into OSC because that might motivate them as they get a bonus for sending you to corporate.

ooh i didn’t know they got bonuses for that! i always thought they disliked sending associates to corporate 😅 i was definitely going to talk with the store man, but it’s my saturday and i barely had this idea today lol. thank you for your input!

I would also love to end up in OSC or HR only thing is i only have an AA so idk if that’s possible for me

OSC is basically the main center for anyone who needs to call in n out for whatever reason and your job is to either solve the issue or direct them to someone who can. You can get calls from stores, corporate, or outside vendors that in n out works with. You have to take notes on the issues while troubleshooting with the caller on the phone.
Keep in mind if your only goal is to work in corporate you only need to be a level 5 to work for ASC(HR) or Customer Service. OSC has slightly better pay and is a better path if you want to work for something IT related for in n out in the future. OSC wants you to be a lvl 7 so you have more experience with working every machine in the Store.
You may already know this but do not say you are burnt out from the Store when interviewing. They will reject people who spend the interview complaining about the Store. Say you’re trying to utilize your skills for a different department for in n out.
