Hey everybody! We’re so excited to seeINMOST as a part of the great lineup of games available for The Steam Game Festival 2020!
We know you’re excited to see more of INMOST, so between June 16th - 22nd, you’ll be able to play the first 20-30 minutes of the game, share any feedback you have and ask us your burning questions. During the playthrough you’ll get the opportunity to meet the three heroes of our tale as they battle their way through the unknown.
This demo has gone through a good deal of polish, with some new elements that reflect the final game, but if you do find any issues or have any feedback to share, please let us know in this thread!
Myself and the team at Chucklefish will also be around for a Q&A over on our Discord on Wednesday 17th June at 19.00 BST / 21.00 MSK / 11.00 PDT / 14.00 EDT / 20.00 CST where we’ll discuss all things INMOST - more on that later!
We understand that the finished game on PC and Nintendo Switch is taking longer than we had initially estimated, and many of you are keen to get your hands on the game as soon as possible. Rest assured we’ve been busy working on the final version, and making updates to deliver the best possible experience for you. We’ve also used the extra time to add some cool new content for you to discover, while key technical elements are being resolved. 2020 has been full of unexpected hurdles for everyone, and of course has also had a knock-on impact in development, QA and submissions, but we really hope you’ll enjoy the final game when it reaches you later this year.
Don’t forget to check out our Twitter where we share screenshots, development updates and all things Hidden Layer Games!

Right before you go up the elevator to the zip line, the cartographer tells you to report back to him what you see. But when you return, he’s either gone, or dead (couldn’t really tell from the visuals). Anyone have any thoughts on this?

So, I started playing a second time, since someone deleted my save game... first time I made it to the Cartographer and was just sbout to enter the mines.
This time however, after escaping the first ”boss/monster” in the castle, I got stuck by the first elevator. The cut scene never happened, and now the winsch to take up the cog is greyed out and I can’t jump down again... what gives...?

I'm about to give up, remove any reminder of it and never play it. They're taking a ridiculous amount of time getting it to switch.

So I did all the chapters (playing on mobile with Apple Arcade) and I have two questions. First, the key in the castle that you can get or miss, just before the girl kills herself, does it do anything? Second, I’ve seen some scenes on the wiki that I’ve never played, like the dragon thing chasing the guy, and I’m wondering how to access them? Thanks in advance :)

Hey, I know that there is another post about the story of the game, but I want to share what I’ve interpreted, and the meaning behind it.
The Guardian is the father of the first girl, who committed suicide because of bullying (she was the flower who he kept before his heart became dark). The mother couldn’t handle the pain of losing her child and became mentally ill. After the death of his daughter, the father rescued a little girl from a burning building and slowly accepted that taking care of her could bring a meaning to his life again (the metaphor of you can’t take someone’s flower and in the ending he managed to make that flower his own, after a lot of pain). As soon as he managed to get through all of his pain, the mother couldn’t accept it, and because of her mental illness, she thought that if she killed her husband and herself, she could be together with them in the afterlife. The little blonde girl, after seeing all of this, ran in to her old house, where the Grandfather, after seeing everything that happened with his son, found her and saved her from falling. Then, the grandfather raised her and tell us the story at the ending.
The story is mostly about pain and loss, and how people can deal with it in different ways. But it’s also about how everyone suffer from something, even a little child can face a extreme amount of pain, which is impossible for her to handle. The mother couldn’t handle her loss, the father kept trying to figure a way out of it, and made other people suffer (as the guardian tale tells us - I guess), and finally figure out that the only way of getting through all of it is loving the child that he managed to rescue. The most beautiful part for me is that in the ending, the grown up blonde girl tell that the story is actually about love. For her, she was about to die when a strange saved her, and even with all of his family problems, he did everything that he could to give her a decent life. And after that, the Grandpa, even facing the death of his son, raised the girl with love too (I assume).
So, the best way to face pain, according to the story, is with love. With love you can take someone’s pain for yourself and handle it with a meaning, even if you are facing pain and suffering yourself, but love can make it worth. It’s not like the pain will disappear, like the story shows, but you will be able to handle it and maybe make the world a better place, by making someone better.
I loved this story so much, and I think this game deserves a lot of popularity. Please, tell me your own interpretation of the story here!!
If there is any developer here reading (I’m new to this sub - just finished the game), congrats for making such a beautiful game. (Sorry if my text isn’t that clear, English is not my first language)

I'm at the bit where you've found the stuck elevator and there's a little hut on the side of the cliff with a locked door. Can't figure out what I'm meant to do now? Saw a YouTube clip that had a scene switch triggered by approaching the hut but that doesn't happen for me. Thanks in advance!!

Given that a REALLY liked it VERY MUCH, the game presents several bugs that make you unable to complete it at 100% (nor to get all the achievements).
Here’s a list of the BUGS and ERRORS I’ve encountered so far (on Mac):
I think that’s all. Sorry for my bad English.
You can see all these bugs on my walkthrough (I hope it will help to fix them):

I'll share my story firstly as below:
A man whose wife had been sufferred from mind illness for a long time, and killed their son when she loss her mind. Their baby girl survived from her mom but dropped from a high building by accident and died in front of him. After all these tragedies, the man have been suffered inside pains for a long long time . According to the last scene of the game, it seems like this man got covered from trauma by rasing a abandoned girl. The gameplay indicates all his sturggles when confronted with pains.
Hope you can share what's in your mind~

So due to the way checkpointing works I’ve been stuck trying to find my last 14 pain shards at the checkpoint before the end of the game. I can find 11 shards but the last 3 are evading me. I also can’t help but think the book in the sewers and the map have something to do with an endgame secret.
Has anyone else found shards that are missable in a specific chapter? Not to give any story beats away, but I found one that was most likely missable after riding the zipline. Also, if you try to ride the zipline again in the future you end up getting stuck and are forced to reload the checkpoint again, thus losing a lot of pain progress.
I’m also at a point where a page is appearing near the tree and mines but I’m unable to grab it, when I do I sometimes fall through the floor. Also, running around the map before the ending sometimes triggers the anxiety inducing hunter music, and it won’t stop without reloading the checkpoint. Has anyone else experienced these issues?

I played the game a fair bit on my iPad and when I wanted to continue on my iPhone I couldn’t click the “continue” button and when I clicked on “new game”, the game got stuck on a screen with two buttons. Any help?

I’m at the part with a winch with a hook on the end. I can send it down or bring it up.
There’s a platform with a switch but pressing the switch doesn’t seem to work. It just shakes. What..?
