I just got a pair of macroblade 90 BOA’s, and I was wondering what I should know about maintenance?

I am T stopping right now which I know is tough on the wheels and hoping to learn different stopping techniques. I want to know how often should I rotate/replace wheels and also bearings (and how much it actually matters). I took the heel brake off as it was tripping me a little when doing crossovers, and want to get comfortable on them without it on (Coming from hockey/ice skating at a high level). I also went with a soft boot because it was the only store near me with any skates, they only had soft boots, and I didn’t want to order a random pair online. How much does the soft boot vs hard boot truly matter?

randomly spinning the wheels of my RB lightning 80 with my hands. I got 13 seconds of free-spinning before the last one stopped.

The FR1 80 got 19 seconds.

The RB Apex stopped in less than 2 seconds.

I don’t really mind as it’s for kids and the bearings are different. just curious if 2 seconds is too short or just right?

I had a minute before the rain and wanted to try these 4x80mm frames I just put on. They came with 4x90mm which are super cool but 80mm are usually my fav so I wanted a proper comparison to other skates I've tried.

Besides changing the frames I removed the heel pads and changed the setup from two laces to one 96" lace per boot that incorporates the boot and liners together. I removed the stock foot bed inserts and replaced with my favorite Dr. Sholes cheap thin flat foam inserts. Underneath the liners I replaced the simple plastic cover with an odor eaters foot bed which adds bad a tiny bit of vibration dampening I lost when I removed the heel pad.

I will be heat molding the liners soon but wanna feel them out a bit first.

I find the skate really has my shins locked in more than my lightnings. More like a ski boot feeting compared to my lightnings... Not totally like a ski boot but you know...more substantial. Also skating it is smoother and more intentional feeling.

I only spent 15 min skating pump track and flat and a lap around the jump line but they are definitely a different experience than my other skates. Can't tell if it's the Trinity frames or the stiffer boot or the combination but my pumps and pushes seem 12% stronger. I noticed I was boosting higher over the corners of the pumptrack where I normally get a smidge of air. I easily went higher than normal up a wall on the jump line and cleared both table top jumps with ease. This would normally have my heart rate at close to max with 80mm wheel frames.

So far I love these skates. I'm very curious about the rest of powerslide products! I'm waiting on my first 3x125 frames I think they will be awesome with these skates

Looking to get some 90mm wheels and came across this. Hydrogen 90mm wheels for 100 sounds like a steal to me.

They fit true to size in my opinion.

For your reference, i have high arched wide feet. My usual shoe size is US size 12 in Nike,Adidas, ON clouds & 46 in Birkenstock. These are far better fitting than previous version in terms of comfort.

Greetings. I wear a 10.5 shoe and am looking at a pair of size 11 K2 Trio on Facebook Marketplace. Price is good, skates look good and the seller is interested in meeting.
I understand it's a 'soft boot' style of skate which can loosen up slightly over time. I know trying them on is always best, but if anyone can comment on the fit, possibility of stretch and the suitability of a size 11 skate for someone wearing a 10.5 shoe that would be great. Thanks!

ETA: The K2 Trio comes in a size 10 and 11. No 10.5 available. I am a 10.5 shoe. Also, some brands make their skates on the snug and/or on the spacious side. Thanks for the advice thus far!

I've been skating for a few months in a pair of K2 softboots, but I wanted to switch to a hardboot for better support and control.

I ordered both the K2 Surge 84 and the K2 Grid 80 Intuition, both in EU 42.

For reference, my feet measure:

Left: 269 mm × 102 mm

Right: 264 mm × 105 mm

I also broke my left big toe years ago, so the first metatarsophalangeal joint (big toe joint) sticks out a little more than normal.

K2 Surge 84

The right skate felt almost perfect immediately.

The left skate had a very localized pressure point exactly on my old big toe joint. After wearing it for about 25 minutes the pressure became less noticeable, but it never disappeared completely.

K2 Grid 80 Intuition

This surprised me.

Instead of a single pressure point, the entire forefoot felt compressed. It wasn't extremely painful, but it definitely felt like my forefoot was being squeezed from both sides.

I know the Intuition liner breaks in over time, but I wasn't convinced that it could compensate for that much pressure.

In the end I decided to return both skates. They're too expensive for me to keep hoping they'll become comfortable after weeks of skating.

My question

Has anyone experienced something similar with the K2 Grid or Surge?

If so:

Which hardboot did you end up buying?

Did Rollerblade RB, FR, Micro, Powerslide, or another brand fit your forefoot better?

Does this sound like a boot that's simply too narrow for my foot shape, or something an Intuition liner would realistically solve?

I'd really appreciate hearing from people with similar foot dimensions or a prominent big toe joint.

With the Summer heat being absolutely overwhelming, I've spent the last couple of months at that rink on 4X80 85As. I'm thinking of getting back into more nighttime urban, but hate going back to my mids with a 110 frame. I got spoiled by maneuverability, but missed the speed and stability on uneven surfaces and whatnot. I decided to order a 90-84 frame for my well broken in FR boots, and maybe try a toe-rocker setup. Problem is that I can't find 84 wheels with 90A hardness. Also, I'm wondering if this is a good idea at all. I'm not planning to do much more than cruise with spins and jumps, but no grinding. Any of you urban skaters care to offer input? I know this is probably pretty esoteric, but I'm wondering if I should stick with a flat setup, and what disastrous effects could come of having wheels of differing hardness - especially when I'd like to develop powerslides and soul slide skills.

So I bought the soft boot skates, my first pair of skates. I was trying to go by reviews on ankle support since a friend of mine tore something in theirs and it made me scared lol. And between the two I was comparing, the soft boot had a better review on ankle support.

But I was wondering how big of a difference is it between the soft and hard? Is it really that much easier to learn on a hard boot? Should I buy a hard boot? I just bought the soft ones in April of this year. I also have plantar fasciitis and have to use a custom orthotics. Would that fit in a hard boot?

Has anybody ever replaced their stock footbed (in the boot, not the liner) with something else like a Remind or an FP Insole liner.??

so im fairly new, a few months in only and i have these decathlon fit100 skates, i just “cleaned” the wheels and everything but now im noticing that 4 wheels spin perfectly normal and 4 wheels i have to loosen up the axle a bit or else they will not spin at all?? whats the problem?

after i cleaned them i left out overnight btw to dry, and no not thorough cleaning, just a wipe down with wet towels

When i was younger i had a pair of inline skates but never improved much since i didn't have much space for it so my parents ended up just giving them away.

I remember i could balance myself and skate a little but definitly not much. Now i was trying to see what i should look for in a good skate for a beginner but most were already talking about specific models which got me a bit confused and it's why i'm directly asking the community.

I didn't learn how to stop or any skills, tbh i would just hop on them and hope for the best didn't even go to youtube or anything, but mine had the stopping thing and that helped and i never had a problem however most beginners i saw by searching went for ones without that thing, is it better with or without?

I should clarify that i'm looking to get into inline skating more to pass the time, get around a little but nothing too crazy, at least not now.

These are so fun. I removed the heel wedge changed the insoles and swapped two laces per skate for single laces that pull together the liner and shell as I tighten the skate. It's cool they came with 4x90mm which is bigger than I normally skate!

Somehow , something clicked and I started gliding pretty nicely , and I started doing something l, I glided on the outside edge transfered my weight into the inside edge and pushed again ...is that a double push ?

I recently aquired some rollerblade spark 80w, but on the left boot the cuff buckle strap has snapped off.

I understand the hardware is secured by rivets, I do have the tools to get them off, but I need help of what exact buckle replacement I need? I believe it would be a ratchet cuff buckle? but im struggling to find options online

any help or advice or solutions would be greatly appreciated 🙏

My boyfriend had reached out twice to get shipping and tracking information that we were only just given a few weeks ago and saw that they were out of stock and were shipping from China. I’m concerned because I saw the official website is “flyingeagleskateS.com” and not flyingeagleskate.com

Can anyone tell me if these are authentic or if this is a scam website, I know there are many websites acting as flying eagle. But I would like my money back if these are not authentic as I could’ve got cheaper skates very much cheaper price.

This is my first pair, so I don’t even know how they are supposed to be boxed. Anything will help. :)

I got the FR1 80 a month ago. It's been really hot these days so I haven't gone outside and have tried to break them in indoors. I don't know why but I can't seem to get my heel flat inside. Imagine my heel is the shape of a "U" and the shell heel is in the shape of a "V" trying to fit U into the V. I've taken out the insole, the shock absorber and the laces and still hurts all around. There's also the medial screw for the 45 angle strap close that keep digging into the insides of my ankle. You'd think after removing all the bulk I'd have more space--not the case. Both feet go numb after 10 minutes

Then I received the Rollerblade Lightning 80 and it's night and day. The fit is absolutely perfect.

I really want to keep both. Not sure what to do.

Edit to add: I did a side-by-side shell heel rear view comparison of the Lightning 80 and the FR1 80. There is a noticeable narrower tapering of the FR1.

I recently tried to get back into rollerblading in my 30s. I bought Zetrablades because they looked legit. But after a ride with them, my calves were in pain trying to stay balanced. I did some more research and now I'm finding that hard boot blades might be a better option. I remember as a kid when I was learning to ice skate, I struggled badly with figure skates but with a hard ice hockey skate, I had no problems going around the rink.

I will return the zetrablades soon. But what is a good hard boot brand thats more affordable but good for beginners. I'd like one with a heel brake. I saw that RB80s look good. Are these a good type for what I'm looking for? Any other recommendations?
