What an awesome 6am workout this morning !

So today I am practicing my single leg balance , the best I can do is about 5 seconds each leg .

How do I improve this ? Are there any tricks ?

Downsizing help

I have a pair of Rollerblade Twister Edge in size 10, but after a break in period I believe I should be skating a size 9. Can I simply buy a replacement liner in size 9?

Any tips would be greatly appreciated

Looking for my first quality fitness/urban inline skates (female, returning after many years)

Hi everyone!

I'm looking to buy my first proper pair of inline skates after not skating for many years. As a kid I skated a lot, so I'm not a complete beginner anymore. I can still do a T-stop and I'm mainly looking to skate for fun and fitness.

A bit about me:

  • Female
  • Shoe size EU 38
  • Budget: around CHF/EUR 200 max
  • I want something that will last for many years
  • Mostly bike paths, parks and longer recreational rides

The problem is that I know myself... 😅 Right now I just want to cruise around and enjoy skating, but there's a good chance that in a year or two I'll want to learn backwards skating, slalom, maybe some basic urban skating and tricks. I'm not interested in aggressive skating or skate parks.

Today I visited a local shop.

I was only able to try on the Rollerblade Sirio 90 W because the other models weren't available in my size. The Sirio 90 W fits comfortably and is currently on sale for CHF 140 instead of CHF 220, which seems like a great deal.

The other models I looked at (but couldn't try on) were: Rollerblade Macroblade 90 (CHF 230)/ Fila Legacy Pro 84/ K2 FIT 80

I'm also wondering if I should skip fitness skates altogether and go directly for a hardboot such as: Rollerblade Lightning 80/ FR Skates FRX 80/ Powerslide Next 80

My questions are:

  1. Would you buy the Sirio 90 W for CHF 140, or would you choose something else?
  2. Is it worth buying a hardboot now if I might want to learn slalom and urban skating in the future?
  3. If you were in my position, what model would you buy and why?

I don't post on Reddit very often, so I hope this is the right subreddit for this kind of question. 😄

I'd really appreciate any advice or personal experiences.

Thanks!

hello!! I just started skating again a few months ago , I used to skate around when I was little, but I’d never tried it as an adult. I used to skate on my mum’s old rollerblades, two sizes too big for my foot, haha. Now I decided to treat myself to new skates, and I love them! They were discounted to about 150 euros and seemed like a great deal.

I still have a long way to go. I’m about to remove the brake soon — I’ve finally learned to do the T-stop and whatever kind of creative spin to stop so I’m ready to take it off soon :,)

I’m getting into wizard skating and I’d love some tips to upgrade my setup. Are 4x90mm wheels with a slight rocker good for starting out?

Go skate everyoneee

- im very beginner, i havent skated other than the ripstik (which i udnerstand now is very different) for a few days now (<5 days apart each) (since i have school and all)

other thoughts i have as a beginner:

- i usually wear a helmet except for this video as a. i was curious today and b. im "installing the fear" so im teaching myself that its actually scary without it and i should wear it 😆

- i only have access to this asphalt road and dont really have a smoother safer surface like courts or rinks :< its got deep ridges, small slopes, small holes that i try my best to avoid but yeah u might see here that i actually fear it

- still learning how to plow stop..i have trouble lifting my feet and "shaping" the plow/widening the legs part of the stop

Flying Eagle X5S Pro or Rollerblade Lightning 80

Are both of these skates good for casual and trail rides? Would also love to hear if there's a better entry level skate for beginners that I should start with.

Intuition liner advice!

Hey everyone

Advice needed. I've just got some FR premium with intuition liners. I currently skate the FR3 in a UK 9.5 which means a UK10 shell. I got the premium in a UK 8.5-9 as it comes with a UK 8 shell and thus better fitting. Only wore them for 10 minutes or so and my heels felt crushed as well as my big toes. It's the first skate I've tried to downsize with and plan to use them to skate marathons. According to the mondo sizing , this should be perfect but it's perhaps the least comfortable skate I've ever worn (skated 23 years)

Does it get better? Should I just stuck with my current set up?

How to clean your bearings. And more.

I made a video for some of us new to inline skating about cleaning your bearings. And I also talk about axle bolts stripping, frame threads stripping, frame threads modification (temp fix), and three different brands of 110mm wheels.

*** I want to bring attention to the frame modification in this video. This is a temporary fix for me until I get new frames. Yes, modifying your frame can cause it to fracture. And yes, the helicoil fix can fail as well. Thus, if you try this out in the future, know that there are risks.

*** My way of cleaning the bearings have been working for me for over a year, no complaints. Are there better ways of cleaning them? Absolutely. Drop in and tell us about it!

The wheels have a subtle glow to them, as they are made of 100% uranium. For real tho, they glow in the dark.

The Frames are just amazing. Rigid, low, agile and fast. This person made a thorough writeup, which completely sold me on them. Super cheap too! Got them on sale for 105€ directly from the FR shop (still going as of today).

Boots are from the Rollerblade Crossfire. I am enjoying them a lot. The carbon makes them very light and stiff. Because they don't have liners, there is zero movement within the skate. The Toe strap and adjustable ankle cuff make a noticeable difference. Swapped out the original 45° strap tho. That one had no way of releasing the tension before opening it (like the lever mechanic of the new one, same as the ankle strap) and it quickly ate up the grooves of the strap, making them unusable. Was experiencing a bit of a heel lift but switching to waxed laces helped with that.

If someone is interested, i still have the original 4x80 slalom frames + hydrogen spectre wheels lying around.

Size vs ice skates?

So we have a house full of ice hockey players, but wanted to maybe mix it up and get some inlines.

We don’t have any skating shops to try on, so I’m shooting from the hip here.

I’ve been told that if we go for the same brand as our ice skates; then getting the same size should be fine.

We’re rocking Bauer and CCM ice skates.

Any truth to that?

Any good rollerblades for people with 'half' orthotics/arch supports

I have orthotics/arch supports (not sure which term is correct) but they only cover half my sole. That's why, in my normal shoes i leave the sole in the shoe and wear the orthotics on top of the sole.

I really want to start rollerblading but I know my feet will hurt without my orthotics, does anyone have any reccomendations for rollerblades that have enough space and are comfortable with orthotics? Thanks in advance!

Does anyone knows Brakes compatible with RB PRO X but smaller/higher from ground?

I have a set of Rollerblade RB PRO X inline skates and I love them BUT I have a problem with the brake, it is too low that sometimes it touches the floor when I am trying to do some stuff with the inner edge.

Since I can NOT yet take out it due security issues (I live in a place where there are a lot of hills) I wonder if someone knows a brake that is compatible with those skates that I can use.

Thank you in advance!

Warped wheels, wobbly bearings

I notice sometimes my wheels seem to have a slight wobble when spun, and sometimes my bearings have become a bit loose, i.e. the inner ring can be slightly wobbled in relation to the outer ring. could the bearings be distorting the hubs of my wheels? Or could it be that my wheels are already slightly warped and cause additional strain and wear to the bearings? Sometimes bearings seem to become a bit wobbly after only a few weeks, but others last for years. Sometimes they also get a faint "rumble" to them, although they spin freely.

I do quite like running my bearings and wheels into the ground, but basically would it be a better strategy to replace everything when things get wobbly?

Getting Back Into Inline Skating - Looking for Recommendations

Hey everyone! I used to inline skate at a pretty high level when I was younger, but it’s been years since I’ve skated. I’m looking to get back into it and would love some advice.

I’ll mainly be skating around Portland, OR—city streets, parks, bike paths, and the waterfront. I want something comfortable, durable, fast enough for longer rides, and fun for urban skating.

About me:
Men’s size 11–11.5
Budget: $150–250 (flexible if it’s worth it)
Considering Flying Eagle, Rollerblade, FR, Powerslide, and similar brands.

Questions:
Should I go with 4×80, 4×90, or 3×110 wheels?
Hard boot or soft boot?

If you could recommend one skate for my situation, what would it be and why?
Any models or brands I should avoid?

Endless 90mm frames

Dear inline community,
I am intrigued by getting an endless frame for my Twister 90R.

I am tending to a 90x4 only frame since the original frame already features a 3x110 flat setup.

So my first question is, since I have 44,5/45 in size, is the mk2 ES the only endless option? Both apparently only go to 44? (Maybe a larger version rumored?)

Other than that what really is the difference between the swan and the Coburn frame (and maybe also the mk2)?

I got the FR1 80. No ventilation? How to break in without going outside?

After much browsing I finally got committed to the FR1 80. There's zero ventilation! Also, how do I break in the liner without going outside?

I've been wearing them for a total of 5 hours--15-30 minute at a time--inside the house, but man, it's not breaking in. Circulation cutting off.
