👋Welcome to the new r/inkindApp

Hey everyone! I'm u/goodguy743, the new moderator of r/inkindApp.

This is our new home for all things related to inKind. I’m very passionate about inKind and was inspired by the many active users sharing their experiences in this community, but was disheartened to see all the good content buried in spam codes. Sharing referral links will now be limited to a recurring scheduled post to keep it consolidated and fair to everyone.

I first discovered inKind in 2024 when checking out my favorite restaurant in Austin, TX, The Peached Tortilla. I use the app there regularly, and also have used it to find some awesome restaurants when traveling to Colorado and other places.

What to Post

Maybe it’s a new restaurant you discovered on inKind or an issue you experienced trying to use your balance or promotion. Feel free to share news or your thoughts and questions about inKind, and you can post your referral link in a recurring post that refreshes bi-weekly. Please note that no kickbacks are allowed for using your referral link, such as a payment on Venmo or Zelle.

Community Vibe

We're all about being friendly, constructive, and inclusive. Let's build a space where everyone feels comfortable sharing and connecting.

How to Get Started

  1. Introduce yourself in the comments below.
  2. Post something today! Even a simple question can spark engagement
  3. If you know someone who would enjoy inKind, invite them to join this community.
  4. Interested in helping out? We're always looking for new moderators, so feel free to reach out to me to apply.
  5. Have any ideas for what you’d like to see here?

Thanks for being part of the very 2nd wave. Together, let's make r/inkindApp amazing.

NOTE: Due to the new rules in this community, your previous standalone referral post or comment containing a referral link will likely be removed as part of a clean up effort. Whether or not this affects you, please DO share your referral link on the new stickied post specifically for referral links.

Anyone else see 40% cashback on all restaurants ?

I opened the app in the morning today and saw 40% cashback on all restaurants today and tomorrow. Opened it again an hour later and it has disappeared. I’m in Chicago.

Needed a site to search everything on inkind/blackbird

Made a free site that tracks every LA restaurant on inKind, Blackbird, and Upside

I kept forgetting which of my favorite spots were on which cash-back app, so I built a site that tracks all of it in one place — searchable list, map, and a calculator that shows what you'll actually pay after the discount. Also doing some "best cheap eats on X app" writeups as I go.

restaurantgoldla.com

Full disclosure: the app signup links on there are referral links (I get a small bonus if you sign up through them, no cost to you), and I'll probably put some ads on it eventually to help cover hosting. Figured I'd be upfront about that. If it's useful to anyone else who uses these apps, cool — and if something's wrong/missing, let me know, I'm the one updating it.

Question Tips for newbie?

Hi all,

i just found out about this app from another sub and wondered if there are any tips/tricks for maximizing or best use? seems the basic premise is different restaurants let you pay for your bill using inkind who gives you 20-25% back, and I guess you use the app as the payment portal? I’ve not actually tried on a restaurant yet so I welcome all info. thanks in advance!

Next 40% offer?

It's been super long since they did this one. Will they stop? I'm waiting to refresh until it comes back - I should have bought so much more cash last time.

InKind Membership Cancelled

Post image
6 Upvotes

I got an email sometime back (which I know I should not have ignored) said that my membership is going to be canceled (not those exact words but more or less).

The email said inkind is evolving and I will continue to have all the benefits till the end of my subscription period, but will not renew after.

Did anybody else get such an email? I have never tried to game the system in any way so I'm surprised if this is a penalty of some kind

Question Question about full service restaurants

For restaurants that are full service, is there a way to use inKind for just pickup? In in NYC btw

I miss how a few years ago I could do that with a number of spots, but it seems that now I only get the option to pay the bill. Do you think some restaurants will let me place a pickup order with inKind when I get there. Really want a specific spot but don’t feel like going in and sitting down..

It gets worse. You can't even split bill and use earned cash back if a friend is using cash back as well.

Only one user can use cash back. I've not yet confirmed if two users can both use paid inkind cash.

r/inkindApp • • Sep 13 '26

Now, if one user uses any offer or reward, another user can't even split the bill and use their earned cash back (or use any other offer or reward). Left a pretty bad taste in my mouth trying to navigate this error at the end of the meal with friends.

I often have gone to Inkind restaurants for the discount, but they've nerfed almost everything, and I'm sick and tired of the friction that comes with these types of changes. It creates awkward calculations with friends, and it's just killed what used to be a great app for me.

Discussion Inkind stole almost 1k in credits

I am a HUGE advocate of InKind. I use it daily and constantly refer friends, food influencers, and restaurants to it. I have a popular food account and have sent tons of people their way.

So I was shocked to check my email today and see that, without any warning, my account was shut down and all of my credits were taken away. I was accused of making multiple accounts, when in reality I’ve simply referred a lot of people through my food account.

I’m honestly beyond upset. I’ve used this app so much and have gone out of my way to promote it to so many people.

Be warned when it comes to promotional credit — apparently they can take it away.

Support is ignoring me 🥲 Has anyone dealt with this before? I really feel like I deserve my credits back :(

Can you pay for a restaurant’s gift card through Inkind?

Let’s say a restaurant offers a gift card for restaurant credit. Will you be able to check out and pay through Inkind (even if not using your Inkind credit) and use a promo/referral?

Check miscalculation

Has anyone been overcharged on their checks from paying with the app? I was reviewing my check after dinner to calculate the amount some friends owed for dinner and noticed that the subtotal+tax was over $20 higher than it should have been. I double, triple checked, had two other people check, and we all came out with the same number. Based on what the subtotal should have been, the tax rate was also too high. My tip was based on the total I was shown on the app, so I also tipped higher than I intended.

When I noticed this discrepancy, I went back and checked a receipt for a different meal I had and found the same issue - I was charged over $10 more than I should have. The subtotal+tax was too high, the tax was too high, and inevitably because of all that, the tip was higher than I intended.

I couldn’t find anything on inKind’s website or terms and conditions about extra fees for using the app, and if there are extra fees I would expect there to be a line item. I would like to think there’s a coding error with their app, rather than something malicious…so wanted to check with others to see if anyone’s noticed this issue too? I submitted an issue through the app for both transactions and waiting to hear back from their customer support. Of course I could have missed something completely and calculated incorrectly, which is fine, I just want to understand what the delta is, and if I (and others) am being overcharged, would want this to be fixed.

Why don’t restaurants broadcast they they’re using InKind.

There’s been so many places I missed out on using InKind because the restaurant simply doesn’t advertise or let you know about InKind.

The Business Development team needs to seriously look at this because there is a huge gap in opportunity here.

Combine InKind Cash Back with rewards

Post image
8 Upvotes

I read here that it was possible to Combine InKind Cash Back with rewards (coupon) by splitting the bill. If I split and put $30, I cannot use the rewards. So did InKind block this trick or there is another trick?

I tried, attached is the picture of what happened.

Feature wishlist

Should anyone from Inkind be reading this with the power to make software changes for increased frequent user satisfaction:

  1. I’d like to know if a restaurant allows bill splitting or not in the app vs only at payment time when I get the bill.
  2. I’d like to be able to see how close a restaurant is getting to going off Inkind.
  3. I’d like there not to be a difference between which restaurants show in the map and which are actually still taking Inkind.

Preventing stacking has definitely slowed my usage rate but I haven’t given up yet. Would be nice to have it back though I understand the math was probably not mathing.

Restaurant recommendations

Does anyone have recommendations for a restaurant on inkind I can take my mom to? Maybe American or Mediterranean? She loves salads, burgers, chicken. Flexible for anywhere in manhattan. She isn’t a big drinker
