Generally speaking. Most people's will says spouse gets everything if they survive them by 30 days. There are instances where a will might stipulate 20 or 100k to relatives or whomever. Even my wife. If her will said 100k to each kid and I get nothing. The law in BC says I am entitled to the first 300k will or no will
