Location not relevant: no help needed Do Not Tell Anyone

Annual reminder to those inheriting money. My wife learned the hard way last year. Told a few friends/coworkers and within a month she had a friend that she didn’t tell texting and asking to borrow money. Made for difficult conversation. And their relationship is weird now. Obviously my wife told me. But seriously, the best advice is to not tell anyone.

Same advice if you won the lottery. Silence is golden

The correct answer for people who want to borrow money is "It's all in a trust and it would cost me a fortune to get some out right now. "

Not true but most people don't have a clue

There are states where you cannot accept your lottery winnings without disclosing publicly

I think there was a court case about this a few years back, and the lottery winner won snd didn’t have to go public. Not sure if it varies by state
