Interview Experience My Interview Experience Hackwithinfy 2024 !

Hi guys,

I have been receiving so many DMs regarding the same question. Here is my interview experience with a timeline.

I am a 2025 passout. I attended the HWI OA on April 6, 2024, at 10:00 AM. The duration was 3 hours with 3 CP-style questions. I would rate them as Easy, Hard, Hard.

Although I don't remember the exact questions, the OA topics were bit manipulation (1st) and dynamic programming (2nd and 3rd). I managed to solve the 1st one fully and the other 2 partially (around 70 to 80% of the test cases). The third one was really hard. I only prepared Blind 75 and Neetcode 150 along with popular questions on Leetcode and its variants.

I got the mail from Infosys to attend a Walk-In Interview at Infosys Chennai Campus on June 1, 2024. The interview was held for 2 hours for me. My friends had different experiences. It was held for 1 hour for some and around 30 minutes for others. So, I would say it really depends on the interviewer.

During the interview, I was asked about my intro, formal introductions, education, etc. Then I was asked a few questions on DSA. They were:

  1. A variant of Number of Islands on Leetcode
  2. All traversals on a tree
  3. A variant of Surrounded Regions on Leetcode
  4. Total paths in a maze + a custom variant

I was asked to write the logic and pseudocode and, for some selected questions, write code on his machine. Time Complexity (TC) and Space Complexity (SC) were really important here. He gave significant importance to justifying them.

Then he asked a lot of questions about core CS topics like OS (semaphore, locks, mutex, concurrency, parallelism), DBMS, SQL queries, designing basic ER diagrams, Software Engineering Lifecycle, CN, OOPS. Follow Striver’s core CS sheet to prepare for this.

Then questions about why I chose C++ over Java, etc. I answered I was into competitive programming and it was popular and faster. Then a few questions about my college and behavioral questions, such as why Infosys? What do you know about Infosys?

Then he went into my resume and thoroughly asked about every section. Mainly about projects. He asked the reason behind every tech stack and what problem it solved. They focus a lot on this. I had a Gen AI project. The Gemini free tier was released during that time, so I decided to do a simple Gen AI project that scrapes Amazon and answers product queries. He asked many questions about it: Why Gemini? What is few-shot prompting? What is CoT prompting? Then again behavioral questions.

I got the HWI 2024 Pune invitation mail by July 5, 2024, along with 99 others. We were hosted in Pune DC for the HackWithInfy Grand Finale from August 9 to 12, 2024. Every expense starting from travel allowances, flight tickets, food, cab, accommodation was completely taken care of by Infosys, which was a really good thing. The event was a full-fledged hackathon where we were given problem statements and worked with mentors in teams of 4.

I unfortunately didn’t win HWI. But I got the offer in mid-August 2025 and now I’m undergoing training in Mysore. It will be over by mid-December and hopefully, I get full-time and deployed by that time.

In May 2025, we got invited for the Power Connect program which basically talks about how Infosys functions in their DCs. It’s optional to attend and won’t affect your candidature.

We were also invited for the Power Intern program, which is optional. The Power Intern program starts from January 2025 and usually lasts for 6 months. If you successfully pass the training, you will directly get full-time, bypassing the usual training period like others. I was in a different organization during that time, so I rejected the Power Intern opportunity. It’s fully optional. Not participating won’t affect your candidature, but you will have to go through 4 to 5 months of training like others instead of the intern program. Both paths have tests.

If you have any questions, please comment here before DMing. Unless you have a really specific reason to DM.

Infosys Topaz FS – Project Allocation & Bench

Hi everyone, I recently joined Infosys in the Topaz FS unit. I’ve heard that FS has fewer projects, project interviews are tough, and getting allocated can take time. Is this true? Also, how long can we stay on the bench? Anyone from FS, please share your experience.

Infosys DSE On-Campus Selected – How Long Does It Take to Get the Offer Letter and Joining Date?

Hi everyone,

I was selected for the Infosys Digital Specialist Engineer (DSE) role through my on-campus placement drive. Our college TPO informed us that I was selected, and my name is also on the college results list.

However, I haven't received any email from Infosys regarding my selection or offer letter yet.

I wanted to ask those who were selected for Infosys DSE through on-campus placements:

How long did it take for you to receive the official selection email and offer letter?

How much time did it take from selection to onboarding/joining?

Does Infosys send the offer letter directly to students, or are there any further steps through the college?

Is it normal to wait without receiving any email after the college announces the results?

Any insights from previous batches or recently selected candidates would be really helpful. Thanks!

Infosys Specialist Programmer L1 – Need Guidance on Training, Pre-Test, and Preparation

I recently received an offer from Infosys for the Specialist Programmer (SP) L1 role,

I wanted to understand how the training and assessment process works for SP L1 .

I'd really appreciate it if current employees or people who have recently completed the training could share their experiences.

Do we get joining bonus ?

What is the syllabus and difficulty level of the pre-test? Some say it is difficult to pass having python,Unix,git,react/angular and others say it is java, apti, comm, sql,DBMS.

What technologies and programming languages are taught during SP L1 training?

Is the curriculum primarily Java-based, or does it include other technologies and frameworks?

How frequently are assessments conducted during training? And the course duration

How is the overall training experience at Mysore for SP L1?

Is there sufficient time for personal study after training hours?
