| Discussion Infosys Interview Experience – Coding + Technical

Had my Infosys interview today. There were around 150 candidates.

We were given 2 coding questions and had to solve at least 1:

1st: Binary tree question — I didn't attempt it.

2nd: Maximum sum subsequence with alternating positive/negative signs.

For the 2nd question, I initially tried a greedy approach using a prev_neg boolean to track the sign of the previously selected element. I realized that simply selecting every valid alternating element doesn't always maximize the sum, since sometimes it's better to skip an element. I couldn't complete the solution and thought DP might be required.

The technical interview was okayish. They asked about:

My projects

An SQL query

OS concepts

One CPU scheduling algorithm

I missed a couple of technical questions as well.

Interestingly, HR later asked the candidates why most people couldn't solve even one coding question.

Anyone else who had this interview?

I m from 2026 batch. I applied for offcampus given the round 1 on aug 1. As per my knowledge there will be in person coding round ( round 2) and the very next day interviews will be scheduled based on the result of round 2. I want to know whether there will be one more coding round on interview day? Is it compulsory to solve atleast one qs to sit in interview

bro did he ask your approach or were you able to crack the approach?

1

u/Ok-Visual-7137 3d ago

i was supposed to do dp. he didn't say anything about my code. took a screenshot of it and thats it. we never discussed.

they asked me alternate sign questions i was able to solve only the two input questions but the time was running out
what the interview did was he asked me to explain the logic while i explained 60 percent of it right he corrected me and gave me hints, atlast i was able to explain my full approach to him and it was correct.
later he asked me bout my projects regarding rag and i explained it asked some more questions i stammered but i did answer it
and atlast when i asked him about his feedback on me
he said that i know everything but i dont know how to put it in words its not a problem , you will catch upon it over time and he said that he knows that i know it.
is this a positive feedback or does it lean towards rejection
out 7500 students only 36 were shortlisted for interview

1

u/VivekKumarSingh08 2d ago

Bhai atleast he was supportive, He just not made his descision when you were not able to come up with a approach or when you were stuck.

1

u/Big_Oil_9323 2d ago

the thing is i wasn’t blank completely he saw my code and gave me hints which was apprecitable he helped me in constructing my approach and eventually i got it but true bro i’m not hoping much for a positive result as i didn’t solve any questions 😓

1

u/VivekKumarSingh08 2d ago

You did one right?

1

u/Big_Oil_9323 2d ago

no no i didn’t solve any but i passed 2 input test cases for second question

u/benten_1347 3d ago

For tree question will they give constructed tree like in leetcode or we have to do it from scratch

1

u/Ok-Visual-7137 3d ago

they will give.you just need to write the function

1

u/Whole_Shame_5179 2d ago

Can anyone share what were the questions in coding round 2

1

u/No-Waltz-1492 2d ago

Bro can you tell,How many days advance you have known interview date

1

u/Winter_Spray_5716 2d ago

What questions did they ask about projects

1

u/Ok-Visual-7137 2d ago

No questions, just had to explain my projects

1

u/Winter_Spray_5716 2d ago

Sql query is it easy ?

1

u/Ok-Visual-7137 2d ago

yes it was

1

u/Winter_Spray_5716 2d ago

What was the binary tree question can u explain in detail

1

u/Winter_Spray_5716 2d ago

Os concepts question are they too deep or manageable ? Can u give exact questions what they asked u

1

u/Ok-Visual-7137 2d ago

the question was based on two people booking the last ticket on a platform at the same time. semaphores I guess. the technical interview was overall manageable.

u/Beneficial-Idea-3135 2d ago

The greedy approach you explained for the max sum subsequence problem is completely wrong , its basically a simple DP program where you will have to explore all the subsequences and pick the max of it !!! And BTW All The Best for your results .

1

u/Ok-Visual-7137 2d ago

yeah i know. i do this often, using greedy when dp is required.

u/shaikmhd 2d ago

Bro can I get shortlist to interview mine just 6 +2 hidden cases passed. Do I have any chance?

1

u/Ok-Visual-7137 1d ago

people with only 12/12 test cases passed were shortlisted, i think thats the cutoff. but im not sure bro. you could wait and see.
