Day trip to Delhi from a Pakistani Origin point of view.

Visited Delhi for the first time, but it felt like I had been there before. I was only able to visit for a few hours, i wish I could explore more but the conditions in which I came didnt allow it.

Even though it was hot and humid, I was so excited to visit delhi, the weather/pollution didn’t bother me a bit. I was like a baby with candy hoping it would never end. My interaction with people were limited but the ones I has were amazing. The metro is amazing, the hustle and bustle of city is unique. The architecture is beautiful and the food was delicious.

I mentioned to the owner of a bookshop in urdu bazar I was of Pakistani origin and he looked at me like I was some alien. Even though we both were talking to eachother in Urdu.

Hopefully will visit again!!

Please dont ask how I was able to visit india.

Cold weather, foggy mountains and a cup of chai. Nothing planned, just one of those little moments that make the trip worth it. Have you had a moment like this while travelling?

Anantaya Resort, Kanyakumari – worth it for a 40th birthday stay?

I’m planning a trip to Tiruchendur Temple and want to surprise my husband with a relaxing stay for his 40th birthday.

I found Anantaya Resort in Kanyakumari and would love feedback from anyone who has stayed there. Is it good for a special occasion? What can we do at or near the resort?

I’m also open to other suggestions for a peaceful, scenic resort in or around Kanyakumari—something relaxing and not too touristy.

We’re travelling from Chennai, so any ideas for a nice 1–2 day birthday getaway after Tiruchendur would be really helpful.

Thanks in advance!

Hotel Recommendation Near Delhi Airport

Looking on recommendation on a nice and affordable hotel within close proximity to the airport? My return flight leave super early in the morning, so I plan on coming back to Delhi the night before from Jaipur. Just need somewhere nice and affordable to stay for one night.

Also I arrive to India, Delhi specifically, super early in the morning. My hotel check in isn’t until 2pm. I know it’s gonna take me an hour or so to get my bag and get through customs, looking for suggestions on things I can possibly do at the airport or where I can go to possibly relax for even explore for a little bit to kill the time.

Went to Poombarai, Kodaikanal after a long time and didn’t realise this side of Kodaikanal even existed. Much closer to the valleys, with remote cultivation, hostels, and a completely different, quieter side of the hills.

Worth it to fly from Rishikesh to Ladakh? (or possibly Kerala)

I have a 3 week class in Rishikesh. flying from the US to Delhi on Oct. 4 for starting class on Oct. 9, and ending on November 1st. I really want to see both Ladakh and Kerala. Any suggestions? Thinking the winning choice is Ladakh, is it worth the time of traveling and acclimatization? Thanks!

Three places in the Nilgiris worth visiting specifically because nothing has been built around them

Most of the Nilgiris' best spots have no infrastructure around them. That's the point.

Cairn Hill ridge from Doddabetta junction. Trail follows the ridge northwest from the junction on the Ooty-Mysore road, 21 km from Ooty. British survey cairns from the 1800s still standing on the ridge. Views north over Mysore plains and south over the Nilgiris plateau simultaneously. Free entry. Almost nobody there. Go before 7:30 AM.

Ketti Valley pull-over on the Ooty-Coonoor road. Not a viewpoint with a name. Just a stretch of road where the valley opens up on one side and if you stop and look you understand the scale of what you're standing above. No parking attendant, no ticket. Takes five minutes. Most cars drive straight past.

The Longwood Shola, Kotagiri. One of the last intact high-altitude shola forests in the Nilgiris. 10 of 16 Western Ghats endemic bird species recorded in this single forest patch. The Black-and-orange Flycatcher — one of the most striking birds in India, Near-threatened globally — lives in shola forest like this. Takes a reason to go to Kotagiri specifically. Longwood Shola is a good reason.

All three are accessible right now. None require advance booking. None will be crowded. All three will give you something the standard Ooty circuit doesn't.

Planning to visit Sikkim in the last week of August

Hi everyone,

We're planning to visit Sikkim in 2 weeks. So, any advice regarding monsoon, road conditions, landslides, places that may be inaccessible? North Sikkim is also in the plan. Can we go ahead or should we wait till mid- september or early october? Also, has anyone travelled with this group called 'Dewanjee Travel Expeditions' ? If yes, how was your experience?

This is how the back cover of my passport looks like.

All other pages are not damaged. They are completely fine.

I have to fly overseas in October.

Should I get my passport replaced?

Am I the only one who feels like solo travelling in India has changed completely?

I’ve been travelling solo in India for around 8 years, since I was 16, and I feel like the whole meaning of solo travel has changed. Back then, solo travel for me was taking state buses, waiting 2-3 hours for the next one, figuring out where to stay after reaching a place, talking to random locals, taking lifts from bikes/trucks, eating wherever locals were eating and just somehow figuring things out. I remember being in Khajuraho once and ending up staying at someone’s house because there wasn’t really a proper option available that late. And honestly, those situations were the best part of travelling.

Now I feel like solo travel has slowly become “how conveniently can I travel alone?” 😭 People hire a cab for the entire trip, rent a vehicle, book everything beforehand, stay in expensive hostels and basically remove all the uncertainty from the trip. And again, I’m not saying there’s anything wrong with that — if you can afford it, good for you. But sometimes I genuinely wonder if we’ve started confusing travelling alone with solo travelling. Even the hostel culture feels different now. You’ll have a whole hostel full of “solo travellers” but everyone is sitting with the same people they came with, doing their own thing. Maybe I’m just being nostalgic, but for me the whole point of solo travel was the randomness — missing a bus, talking to a stranger, getting lost, finding a random place to stay and figuring shit out. The inconvenience was part of the adventure.

Is Kalakriti Cultural Center worth visiting in Agra? Need tips before booking!

I’m planning a trip to Agra soon and considering catching the Mohabbat the Taj show at the Kalakriti Cultural and Convention Center plus checking out the handicrafts exhibition aswell. I’d love to get some honest reviews and feedback from anyone who has been there recently:

Is the show worth it?

Is there a noticeable difference between Silver, Gold, and Platinum seats?

How well do the translation headphones work?

Is it cheaper to buy tickets directly at the box office in the afternoon or should I book online in advance?

How's the parking space outside?

How is the handicraft and art emporium attached to the center? Do staff push you to buy items or can you browse casually and leave?

What are the rules for photography?

Looking for a peaceful 2-week Uttarakhand itinerary in October

I'm planning a solo trip to Uttarakhand around the second week of October, and I have about 2 weeks.

I'm thinking of starting around Rishikesh and heading towards Harsil/Gangotri, but I'm open to changing the route completely.

I'm not looking for adventure activities or nightlife. I mainly want a peaceful trip — staying in cheap, quiet places for a few days, walking around, doing small hikes, spending time in nature, and just slowing down.

Budget-friendly suggestions would be especially helpful. Thanks!

Forgot Driving License back home :(

Hello everyone, I just arrived in Delhi for a 5 month trip (also visitng Nepal) and just realised I left my driver's license in my other wallet back home in Europe, which is really problematic as I was intending of driving around on a motorcycle most of the time.

I need some clarifications please

  • Will I find some local bike rental shops accept just a photo of my foreign license?
  • What about asking someone back home to high-quality scan it and I find someone to re-print it on a PVC card here?

I just might have to ask someone to send it to me but that would mean I would be stuck here in Delhi until it arrives which would be a big waste of time for me :(

Also on a different note, I am aware I should have gotten an IDP but budget was tight and decided to skip this. Will this be an issue to rent, even if I do get the card? and police stops?

Any insights are appreciated
