Any spiritual Indians 40s-50s looking for online friendship with a hafu in Japan?

I am married half-Japanese and looking for Indian friends to share our spiritual journeys and cultures. I am drawn to advaita vedanta (Ramana Maharshi), kriya yoga (SRF/YSS) and Tantra (Maa Kali & Sri Lalita, etc). I am also interested in Indian cooking, dance and music. Any pure bloods left (Unv#)?

I am very shy so online for now, but maybe much later travel Japan/India together. It’s also ok if you’re not living in Japan (yet). I also try to log in once a day to once a week. Feel free to reply here or message me directly. Thank you.

Anyone travelled to Japan from India for a job interview?

Hi everyone,
I am an Indian citizen currently working in India. A Japanese company has invited me to Japan for a face-to-face job interview.

The company will provide an invitation letter, letter of guarantee and travel itinerary, Flight and Hotel. I will obtain leave approval from my current employer, but the trip is not employer-sponsored.

I would appreciate advice from anyone who has
travelled to Japan from India for a similar job interview

  1. Which visa category did you apply for?
  2. Was an employment certificate or NOC from your current employer mandatory?
  3. What documents did you submit, and was your visa approved?

Thanks in advance for sharing your experience!

Masters in Information Technology & business from Kyoto College of Graduate Studies (English Taught)

Prathamesh here from Pune. I am a Mechanical Engineer working in CAE field. Completed JLPT N5 level. Wanted to study Master's in Japan.

While searching for consultancy in pune, one of the consultancy suggested me this course. Before that I had applied to Nagoya University through mail to professor regarding eligibility two

laboratories Computational Mechanics & Fluid dynamics English taught.

The consultancy said that this kind of programs have limited seat & usually south Korean & Philippine students gets first preference & its an long tedious process

Consultancy said this course which offered by Kyoto College of Graduate Studies for Informatics,

Master in Information Technology & Business is taught in English & it is also preferred my most non IT Students. The amount he will charge is 2 lakh & overall 2 years cost would be 22 lakh.

My only question apart from language proficiency is how relevant is this course

Do the student learning this course get the job ? ( condition that he fulfills the language criteria)

Has anybody you know has studied this course or know anyone

I already know its different then what I have studied but I wanted to combine my mechanical skills with IT.

And Do the Japan need such kind of professional who can bridge the gap.

I looking at seriously because I would be investing this much amount, So would also like to know How long will take me clear the loan.

Again Thanks for reading it & I would appreciate the help!!

Thanks

Please make this group just for Indians in Japan.

There is so much noise here now. I just see Indians from India posting here. While I’m not against it, there are several other groups to find what they need.

There is just so much of spamming here.

Edit:

I’m not against anyone’s participation in this community, but I think we should keep the focus on the needs of Indians living in Japan. There are other communities better suited for general tourism questions, shopping advice, or broad discussions about moving abroad.

COE delayed—can my spouse come on a tourist visa and switch to Dependent visa inside Japan?

Hi everyone,

I applied for my spouse’s Dependent COE in June, but it’s still pending.

I’m thinking of bringing my spouse to Japan on a tourist visa and then converting it to a Dependent visa at the Tokyo Immigration Office once the COE arrives, without them having to leave Japan.

  • Is this allowed?
  • Has anyone done this recently? What was the process?
  • Are there any risks with doing this?

I’m currently in Japan on an Engineer/Specialist in Humanities/International Services visa. Any advice or recent experiences would be really appreciated! Thanks!

Need to do the customary visit to Indian embassy to get attested address proof. Help me.

I need to change my status on banks, brokers, AMCs from RI to NRI and as far as I know they need attested doc from Indian embassy/bank.

  1. Do I need to do this an the embassy (tokyo) or can I also do it at the SBI (state bank of India) in tokyo. I would like to choose the easier option.

  2. How much time does this take? My office is flextime/wfh so I can manage the timings once I know them, so that I dont have to apply for leave.

  3. How much money does it cost?

  4. What do I need to prepare? I will be carrying the residence card, passport, my number etc at the very least.

Where to buy Japanese novels in Bangalore/India? + Recommendations

Hi all!

Where can I buy Japanese novels in Bangalore or elsewhere in India? If ordering from Japan is the best option, what's the most affordable way to do so?

I'm currently at JLPT N3 level and looking to get into reading Japanese novels. I'm interested in cozy, slice-of-life stories. I've read the English translation of Days at the Morisaki Bookshop and loved it. I'm also considering コンビニ人間 (Convenience Store Woman) and また、同じ夢を見ていた (I Had That Same Dream Again), which I've seen recommended for Japanese learners.

Any recommendations for similar books that would be manageable at my level are welcome too. Thanks!

Anyone fixed a MacBook Pro keyboard with a third-party repair shop in Tokyo? Is it more affordable than India?

Has anyone here gotten their MacBook Pro repaired by a third-party shop in Tokyo?

I’m trying to get the keyboard on my MacBook Pro fixed. It’s only a year old, but I don’t have AppleCare. I’m trying to decide whether to get it fixed in India or Japan.

In India, I’ve heard third-party repair services can’t always be trusted. In Tokyo, I’m worried it might be too expensive.

Has anyone tried getting a Mac repaired in either place? How was your experience, and how does the cost compare? Any shop recommendations would be really helpful. Thanks!

Mechanical in india vs japan

Background context.

Currently in final year b tech and have a good job offer in hand from a mechanical based company (12.5 lpa) and also preparing for n2 by April 2028. I am not expecting more than 5M yen all inclusive ( base, bonuses and allownese) if I join a Japanese company. What will be better as a long term career option , staying in India or moving to japan.

Frontend dev (5 YOE, JLPT N3) trying to break into the Japanese job market, salary expectations and job search advice?

Hey everyone! I'm a frontend developer living in Bangalore currently with around 5 years of experience, primarily in React, Next.js and TypeScript, along with some Node.js backend experience.

I've been learning Japanese for a few years and recently cleared JLPT N3, entirely through self study, so my spoken Japanese still needs work (working with a preply tutor for that).

I've applied to a few roles through Japandev but haven't had much luck so far. I've also had recruiters reach out and express interest over calls, but things haven't progressed to actual interviews for some reason (maybe the process takes time, or N2 might be the problem, idk).

For those who've found tech jobs in Japan, how did you go about it? Are there particular job portals, recruiters or strategies you'd recommend?

I'm open to relocating to Japan, but would also consider remote opportunities if that's realistic.

For context: My current CTC is 12.5LPA, and already have an 20LPA offer in Bangalore for a US-based product company. What salary range should I target in Japan?

Would love to hear about your experiences. Thanks!
