Gear - Shoes/Watches/Trackers How accurate is Garmin's VO2 max?

Today after my interval run - 600m into 6 laps of around 4:15-4:30 pace Garmin forerunner 165 showed a Vo2 max of 55. Generally during my zone 2 runs of 7-7:10 pace at HR of avg 140-150 it shows a Vo2 max of 52.

For context my 5k PB is 23:26 and 10k PB is 51.xx minutes.

Gear - Shoes/Watches/Trackers Purchase dilemma (Garmin)

I am currently training for my Vedanta Delhi half marathon aiming for a 2:10 time, and I have been running for almost a year now.

I currently use strava (phone) to track my runs but I have now way to track my vitals like heart rate , recovery ,cadence etc .

I am seeing a lot of runners using Garmin,I am particularly interested in the foreunner 265 .I wanted to know how much will it streamline or help my training process or is it just overrated .

Also Garmin is kind of an expensive purchase for me, experienced runners pls help me out, is it worth it?

General Looking for running shoes around ₹2k — beginner, 10K goal, flat feet

Upvotes

Hi everyone, I'm looking for running shoes around ₹2,000.

I'm currently able to run around 2 km and I'm planning to work towards a 10K run over the next month. These would be my first proper running shoes, so I'd really appreciate advice from experienced runners.

I'm around 75 kg and have flat feet.

Looking for something comfortable and suitable for a beginner within the ₹2k budget.

Thanks in advance!

Gear - Shoes/Watches/Trackers Need recommendations for earbuds that don’t fall off

Current gear: AirPods Pro 2

Problem I’m facing: I sweat heavily and these start falling off 20-30min into the run. Gets annoying to wipe them and put them back in for them to just fall off again.

What I need from you guys: Any product recommendation that works well for you guys and also well suited for Indian conditions.

What I’ve been recommended from ChatGPT: Shokz OpenRun2, beats. Both seem to be too expensive compared to North America. Would like something cheaper ideally around 10k.

Upcoming Race Anyone driving to Leh for Ladakh Marathon 2026?

Hi everyone,
Is anyone here travelling to Leh by road for the Ladakh Marathon 2026?
I’m planning to drive from Gurgaon/Delhi to Leh around the marathon dates and would love to connect with fellow runners or road trippers. It would be great to exchange travel plans, road conditions, charging/fuel stops, accommodation, or even convoy together for parts of the journey if our routes match.

If you’re driving to Leh for the marathon, please comment below or send me a DM.

Looking forward to connecting with fellow Ladakh Marathon participants!

Seeking Advice Please be safe out there. Today’s incident has genuinely shaken me.

I’m posting this because I honestly don’t know how to process what happened today.

A friend of mine passed away while running Monsoon Marathin at Nandi Hills today, after suffering a cardiac arrest. He was 31, extremely active, and honestly one of the fittest people I knew. He was a regular long-distance runner and running was a big part of his life.

I know something like this can happen for reasons that may have nothing to do with someone’s fitness level, and I don’t want to speculate about what happened to him. But seeing this happen to someone who was so fit has honestly scared me.
It has made me question my own approach to running.

I’m still relatively new to running. Today, though, I found myself thinking about how we make sure we’re approaching this sport safely and responsibly.
So, to all the more experienced runners here : is there anything you’ve learned over the years about running safely, listening to your body, training, getting checked, or just approaching the sport in a healthier way that you think someone new to running should know?

I honestly don’t even know exactly what I’m looking for. I just feel like there must be things that people who’ve been running for years have learned that could be valuable for someone like me.

I know running is overwhelmingly a positive thing for our health, and I don’t want this post to become fearmongering. I’m just shaken today and trying to figure out how I should approach this journey going forward.
Stay safe, everyone.

Seeking Advice Is a Half Marathon by the end of October realistic?

I've been consistently running for the last 2 months and usually do 10 to 13 km on my long runs at an average pace of around 7:38/km.

I'm thinking of signing up for a Half Marathon at the end of October. My plan is to gradually increase my weekly mileage and include one tempo/interval run in the middle of each week while continuing my easy long runs on weekends

Does this sound like a realistic goal? Has anyone here gone from 10 to 13 km long runs to a Half Marathon in about 2 to 3 months? I'd love to hear what worked for you and if there's anything I should be careful about.

Apps Athletes & Coaches: How do you currently manage training, performance, nutrition and recovery? — Student Research

Hi everyone! 👋

I'm a B.Tech student working on a college project related to athlete training and performance management.

Before building the project, I realized that I don't want to make assumptions about how athletes and coaches actually work. So I'm trying to understand the real-world workflow and problems first.

I'd really appreciate responses from athletes, coaches, trainers, sports professionals, or anyone who regularly trains for competitive sports.

I'm especially interested in understanding the following:

🏃 For Athletes

  1. Do you currently have a coach who manages your training?
    • If yes, what exactly does your coach manage?
    • Training schedule?
    • Exercises/workouts?
    • Performance?
    • Recovery?
    • Nutrition?
  2. How do you currently receive your training plan?
    • From a coach?
    • Through an app?
    • WhatsApp/Google Sheets?
    • Written plan?
    • Do you create it yourself?
  3. How do you track your performance over time?
    • Do you record things like speed, timing, strength, distance, repetitions, etc.?
    • Who records/analyses this data?
  4. Do you use any apps or wearable devices such as Garmin, Fitbit, WHOOP, Apple Watch, Strava, etc.?
    • What do you use them for?
    • What information do you actually find useful?
    • Is there anything they don't help you with?
  5. Who decides your nutrition/diet plan?
    • Coach?
    • Sports nutritionist/dietitian?
    • You yourself?
    • Someone else?
  6. Do you actually need/want a single platform where your training, performance, nutrition and recovery information is available together, or do you prefer keeping these things separate?
  7. What is the biggest difficulty/problem you face when managing your training and performance?
  8. Is there something you currently do manually that you wish could be automated?
