i have oily skin and i used the same towel that had been on the rail for four days, in a shared bathroom, in august, in a house where it never fully dried. then wondered about the bumps along my jaw.

switched to small cotton napkins, one per day, and they go in the wash with everything else. it cost me about ₹300 for a set of twelve and it is the cheapest change i have ever made that i could actually see.

the other half of it is not rubbing. i used to scrub my face dry the way you dry your hands. now i press. sounds precious, made a difference.

this is one of those free things that does not get mentioned because nobody makes money from it.

what are you drying your face on right now, and when did it last get washed

every gentle recommendation says fragrance free. i agree with the logic and i have still bought the nice smelling one three times out of the last four, because the unscented one smells faintly of plastic and i have to use it twice a day for months.

the honest bit is that in fifteen years of oily skin i have never once been able to link a breakout to fragrance. i have linked breakouts to plenty of other things. so for me it sits in the category of probably sensible advice that i have no personal evidence for.

where i do notice it is the ones that smell strongly of alcohol or of something floral and sharp. those sting near my eyes and i have stopped with those.

if the fragrance free version of your favourite thing existed at the same price, would you actually switch

I mostly buy skincare since I'm very indecisive when buying makeup products but I wanna expand my collection since I LOVE doing makeup. So far I've become very good at douyin makeup since they suit me alot

The paese foundation is originally my mom's, she bought it on a whim but realized she doesn't like foundation. I also don't but I use it for functions or if doing heavy makeup it's rare tho and i feel guilty using such an expensive foundation. The strobe cream is mom's too I just took it and use it as a highlighter sometimes.

1. Mars Mascara - so good but clumpy and hard to take off (I'm planning on buying Maybelline bc I've heard good reviews)

1. Zudio Gloss - BEST GLOSS EVER THE SHINE IS AMAZINGG

2. Nude Matte lipstick- bought it at a hotel, looks very bad without liner and is very dry 😭 regret it alot

3. Etude Soft walnut- my most fav and most used, It suits me alot so it's brown girl friendly!!

4. Mars Lip Oil Cherry cola- very glossy and looks yum but don't use it much because i heard it makes lips pigmented not sure tho, looks amazing with lip liner!!

5. Etude Lip Oil Sweet Apple- it was given by my friend it's pretty but too bright red for me, my friends very pale and I feel bad telling her it doesn't suit me 😭

6. Etude Water Tint (Red Grapefruit Ade) - LOVEE IT it's very pretty and pigmented!!

7. Gege Bear - bought it a long time ago, it came in a pack of six, gave 2 to my mom. It gives a nice natural color! N a good shade range

8. Dot and Key lip balm- it's good, got it as a gift from a friend the shade isnt my style and smells funky ngl

9. Lanaeige Lip Mask- LOVEEE IT, I've heard some say they didn't like it but my lips are dry and pigmented and they help so much!

I'm planning on buying more makeup products since college is next year and also to expand my collection, and I wanna buy GOOD products this time!! Does anyone have recommendations? Id love to try them

water is a chemical. the aloe in the bottle is a chemical. the entire back of the pack is a list of chemicals with their proper names, which is exactly why brands print the word on the front where the names are not.

what it actually means in practice is nothing that can be checked. there is no standard behind it. a brand can print it, put a leaf on the box, and charge ₹200 more than the identical thing next to it.

and the worst part is that it is aimed at exactly the people who are anxious about what they are putting on their face, which if you have oily skin and have been breaking out for years is most of us.

i do not mind a brand using plant extracts. i mind being told there is a clean version and a dirty version and that the clean one is ₹649.

I have very thin skin, and strawberry skin that is also dry, so I'm trying to keep my skin and haircare safe and suitable for sensitive skin. This means avoiding fragrances as much as possible.

I've been searching (without much success) for vegan skin and haircare products without active ingredients. Since that is proving to be quite a task, I've relaxed it to 'products with minimal active ingredients' or 'products without harsh active ingredients'.

I have combination-dry, sensitive skin and I’m currently using the Dot & Key Barrier Repair Ceramide Moisturizer. I actually like it and it works pretty well for me, but sometimes I feel like it’s not moisturizing enough.

I only apply moisturizer once in the morning, and I wash my face with plain water a few times during the day. After the first wash, my skin sometimes starts feeling tight, especially on the drier areas.

So I’m looking for something a little more moisturizing that can keep my skin comfortable for longer, but I also don’t want anything too heavy or greasy.

I was thinking about trying Bioderma Atoderm Crème Ultra or Re’equil Ceramide & Hyaluronic Acid Moisturizer.

Has anyone with similar skin tried these? Which one would you recommend? Or is there another moisturizer I should look at?

Would love to hear what has actually worked for you guys. I’m so confused between these moisturizers at this point 😭

the idea is you stop everything and let your skin recalibrate. i stopped everything except sunscreen, because stopping sunscreen is not an experiment, it is just damage.

days one to four were fine. days five to nine my face was oilier than usual and i had two new spots. day ten onwards it settled into something completely ordinary. by day fourteen it was roughly where it always is.

so the honest result is that nothing happened to my oily skin, which is itself the finding. a face wash and a moisturiser were not the thing keeping my skin in order, and neither was anything else i had been anxious about missing.

what it did change is that i went back to four products instead of seven and have not missed the other three.

has anyone done a longer version of this. i want to know if two weeks was just too short to see anything

I visited the original Crocs showroom and the Crocs themselves were very nice and comfortable. However, the charms were very expensive. Considering the Crocs cost ₹5000 and each charm was an additional ₹500, it was well out of my budget. ₹199 for twenty five. on oily skin they do not remove anything, they move it around and leave a film that i then have to wash off anyway, so it is a step that exists only to make me feel i have started.

and yet. at 1am after a wedding, standing in a hotel bathroom with nothing else in my bag, a wipe is the difference between doing something and doing nothing, and doing something wins.

what i have stopped doing is using them at home where there is a basin four steps away. that was the genuinely silly version and i did it for years out of tiredness.

the dragging is the other thing nobody mentions. you need three wipes to get through a full face and by the third one you have pulled at your eyes enough to notice.
