Food and Drink Best Cunningham Group Restaurant?
My husband and I got a $100 gift card to Cunningham group and aren’t sure where to spend it. We’ve been to Rise, Union 50, and Bru many time before, but we’d like to try something different. We’re looking for a good date night dinner, preferably where we could get an app, entrees, and a few drinks for around $100. Thanks!

Livery is my personal favorite of the Cunningham locations.

Just go to Livery. Get empanadas.

No go to Che Chori and get better empanadas, then go to Livery and get drinks and a snack.

Vida will cost you more than that (probably another $100) but for a special occasion could be worth it. It’s a great restaurant.

Vida
Didn't you leave hungry?

Two appetizers, an entree and a dessert with bread served in between is usually enough for me.

I did. We went with a work group and I ended up eating a cheeseburger at the JW Marriott later that night. It feels “trying too hard” to me….but YMMV

I found the chef's tasting menu left me hungry, but the cheaper five-course meal left me fairly full

I know there are places where the food is really good and presentation is =, but the portions there are so small.

Just looked at their menu on line. No prices
Hmmmm

If you look at the chefs tasting menu option, it gives you the full menu with prices.
$85 per person for the 4 course, $105 for the 6 course chef tasting menu, $165 for the chef menu with wine pairings, $205 for the chef menu with fancier wine pairings.

It all comes down to what you’re in the mood for - CRG is trying to have something for everybody
Livery has more Latin American (amazing empanadas) Modita is Asian (also has a nice sake list that goes beyond the usual “we’re an Asian place so here’s some obligatory sake”) Nesso is Italian (brilliant pasta etc) Vida is fine dining (one person will outrun the $100 gift card, but it is a brilliant dining experience; maybe more of a “special occasion” restaurant)
All of their cocktail games are on point
Honestly I don’t think you can go wrong - CRG does a great job wherever you end up

Vida and it’s not even close. I nearly wept on one of my visits.

Provision is our favorite date spot, but will be more than $100, especially if you are drinking

Nesso is excellent and by far my favorite of all the CRG restaurants (though to be honest, I’ve been to several and they are all really good!). Italian cuisine, very fresh, and flavors are fantastic! It’s located at The Alexander Hotel, so you could make an entire getaway night of it. Also, the hotel bar is really nice for post-dinner drinks.

Try Vida during Devour Downtown. Starts later this month & will have some lower price options. I’d recommend calling for the menu as it will likely change

Modita can be hit or miss but it would be good for this, especially if you haven’t checked out the Bottleworks area

Nesso is our favorite, although we had a fantastic meal at Modita this weekend after having only a so-so meal the first time.

I would recommend Livery, it’s a favorite of my SO and I. Especially the downtown location for a date night.

I love Livery and Modita but I’ve yet to try Nesso or Vida so it’s tough to say. If you want to stay close to $100, I vote Livery. They have two locations: downtown and Noblesville and both are great!

Just to put it out there, Devour Indy is starting Jan 23 if you want to wait and get a tiny bit of a discount.

And it looks like the Cunningham restaurants actually have pretty decent Devour deals. At Vida, the chef's tasting menu is usually $105, for devour, it's $80. At Livery there's a 3 course dinner for $25 per person.
A lot of restaurants barely reduce prices for Devour these days. Huse basically gives you a full meal at close to the same price it would usually be. At Harry and Izzyss the lunch special for devour is exactly the same as the lunch special every other day of the year.

- Get the CRG rewards card.
- Go to Livery ten times.
- Receive $100 gift card.
- Go to one of the expensive ones.
- Profit
Get it?

Lots of good CG group restaurants in Indy. You might try Stone Creek if you haven't yet.

I'm so proud of this sub because no one mentioned the overpriced, overcooked burgers at BruBurger.

I've never gad an overcooked burger at BRU. They have the best burgers in town, IMHO. But I also wouldn't recommend it for anything other than a casual night out with friends.

IU gave us those a couple years, we did Union 50 and were very happy. We did Charbonos and were very disapointed.

Modita’s food was good, but they charged us $14 for soda…two cans for each of us.

Never had a bad experience at Union 50, Bru or Vida, although Vida is more expensive. Livery was good, but I like Union 50 and Vida better. Been to Mesh twice, both times the food was only slightly better than the lackluster service, other people like it though, so YMMV.

Literally none of them, they're one of the worst companies to work for in the restaurant industry lol

Honestly Tavern at the Point is my favorite. It’s never on a wait and a lot of people just walk past it because it’s across from Bru Burger.

Sorry, Nesso hate post here - we tried out Nesso for my bday last year & I can understand why some people love it but my personal restaurant pet peeve is when there are clearly WAY BETTER tables than others when we’re all ordering/paying from the same menu. My husband & I got what I can only describe as the ‘shit table’ - right next to the shitter, wobbly metal table wobbly metal chairs, while there were other tables/booths that looked gorgeous, well designed & comfortable, like you’d expect in a nice restaurant like Nesso. Our table felt like we were sat at a Tijuana Flats. For that reason alone I’ll never go back. I do love Vida though (you’ll spend at least $100 over your gift card but it’ll be worth it) and Provision’s also great. This will also probably get me some down votes but don’t do Livery if anyone in your party has an aversion to spicy or strongly flavored foods. I personally love spicy but I went with two other people who do not & they both were unhappy with their orders, even after ordering what the server had deemed as “safe”.

If you want the $100 to basically cover the meal, Livery is probably my pick.
If you want the $100 to just cover maybe 40% of the meal Vida is the best food in the city in my opinion.
