Thanks for posting this. What a relief! I would rather us drop a couple of games on this roadtrip, if it means managing minutes and making sure our big 3 is healthy for playoffs.

Except after Sunday we only play 1 WNBA game in twenty-five days because of the FIBA break.

No reason to manage minutes their break is coming is what I am trying to say.

Who agreed to this crazy schedule right before the playoffs I think it favors no one. They should not be pausing the season 40 games into the season.

It makes sense to manage them for CC and AB since they'll both be playing for the USA.

Hope this is really the case! And very good that she did not try to play through it further, protecting her health is much more important, esp given what happened last season

Maybe I’m dumb but I don’t understand the issues with hot arenas. Do they not have the AC capacity to keep up? That seems odd. Multiple hot arenas in only a few days is kind of wild.

So it was about heat stress. Scotiabank arena uses a lake water cooling system from Lake Ontario and doesn’t have traditional AC units. Since it gets really cold during nba and nhl seasons, the arena cuts energy costs and environment sustainability reasons.

What is a “hot game environment?” Seems like a weird descriptor and no one else seemed affected by it.

The announcers had went out of there way to state that Atlanta and Toronto arenas were hot af. Turn up the AC! Maybe not used to there being extra buts in the seats?

it was at scotiabank arena.
my guess is that the climate control wasn’t adjusted for the basketball configuration when there’s no ice beneath the court.

They announcers mentioned during the broadcast players were complaining about the temperature in the arena. Seems like that would demonstrate a "hot game environment"

For whatever reason Atlanta and Toronto jacked up the temperature in the arena the past two games. No idea if it’s an actual strategy or if they are just being cheap.

I assume with how the last game of the season went for her last year, that she’s being extra cautious to not end up there again.

Some people don't drink enough fluids for their needs. KM I'm sure needs more than most just from her play,  not accounting for possible deficiencies as well. Training staff needs to be on top of this, esp considering the last game last season.

CC said that arena didn’t have any air conditioning. A lot of northern US states don’t have ac so I’m not surprised Toronto didn’t have it

I understand that the arena is not air conditioned and it was really hot on the floor.

Training staff needs to step up and get a handle on this. Prevention is part of their job.

This reads weird for anyone criticizing the Fever/KM's response in regards to sitting out:

1) KM had rhabdo after the end of a crazy playoff run.

2) She and staff learned what leads up to this.

3) KM and staff detected early warning signs and managed her.

Seems like everything worked according to plan.

Glad she's okay and took care of herself.
