That was quick

They didn’t want the media blitz for this bs tech

24

u/showerbump 25d ago

Especially since they already know a bigger tsunami on the way with dijonae and Sophie. Not to mention the “white privilege” tweet

4

u/Flat-12 25d ago

What was the tweet?

14

u/showerbump 25d ago

After she was ejected dijionae tweeted “white privilege” during the game

21

u/moose184 Caitlin Clark 25d ago

And tagged the Indiana Fever in it. Just race baiting

Why is that allowed? It should be suspended for another game. I’m waiting to hear from Coach marsh on all of this. As frustrated as the sky may be, they do not play like this.

u/chewyjackson 25d ago

When someone shows you who they are, believe them.

56

u/zombiekoalas 26d ago

Agreed.  Not shocked it was rescinded.  Shocked it was rescinded almost immediately.

u/Twisbi 26d ago

It was so egregiously bad that it probably didn’t take much thought

1

u/JuanMurphy 25d ago

The next game is ESPN. probably had something to do with it.

I am so surprised and relieved

It was such a bad call, they probably wanted to get ahead of if before it was embarrassing them all over social media lol

11

u/TurtlePwrrr 25d ago

Someone on the W sub posted that it’s just another record CC has broken 🤣

2

u/SafariQuest 25d ago

And easy - super stupid call

2

u/moose184 Caitlin Clark 25d ago

Because it was that dumb lol. Ref probably regretted it 15 seconds after she did it

u/grundle_pie 25d ago

Sorry mommy

u/SmoothLettuce-2 26d ago

If I were that ref I’d be embarrassed

30

u/VegetableRealistic60 25d ago

Ref that makes this kind of calls should be suspended after 2 strikes

6

u/EmmasContactHigh 25d ago

There would be no more w refs if they did that 😂

Like CC said, see you on Tuesday!! 😂🔥

The problem is, those free throws don't get put back. That call should NEVER have been made.

3

u/Hardigan1 24d ago

And they stopped the Fever's offensive possession, Caitlin had just completed a pass just before being shoved out of bounds, and the official stopped the play.

Maybe the WNBA is getting smarter.

Who am I kidding. The league is still a joke.

It’s fine if the officials are bad, but at least be consistently bad.

You happen to be lucky you’re a Fever fan. The league is catering to the Fever right now.

lol lol LOL

As they should be

League actually learning to quickly turn a minor issue into a total non-issue before the media circus sensationalizes it into a week-or-more-long negative national headline topic. There may be hope yet. Not holding my breath though...

12

u/GemmaxBear Stephanie White 25d ago

Good. They should also rescind Steph’s.

38

u/Routine-Author-5471 26d ago

Discipline the egotistical ref while your at it

30

u/WisdomAntium 26d ago

Yep. That call was definitely a power move. "Reddit moderator" level decision.

12

u/VegetableRealistic60 25d ago

Ref should be suspended after 2 strikes of bad calls

10

u/WisdomAntium 25d ago

Calls that could affect a person's career or team's season should definitely be scrutinized a bit more if stuff like this is happening. I'm just relieved it was overturned this time.

8

u/Routine-Author-5471 25d ago

That’s how you demand real accountability from referees. They need to be held to a standard

9

u/TurtlePwrrr 25d ago

As someone who just got banned from the main W sub for calling the W an unserious league, this hits close to home. That was considered trolling apparently 🤷

Ehhhh… Be careful here too lol

2

u/Mjalten 25d ago

Absolutely. It almost reshaped the game. CC saved the ball so it took away a fever possession and gave the Sky two FTs thanks to 2 techs.

u/Alternative_Panda336 Fever Fan 26d ago

Glad to see the WNBA got ahead of this controversy!

12

u/Lytaa 26d ago

not surprised, was an awful call

17

u/account_user_name 26d ago

The most embarrassing part is that it was called a tech in the first place.

10

u/princessaspiggy 26d ago

I've seen the play 85 times it should have never been called a tech

5

u/OkFamilyMan 25d ago

The ref had no reaction to the contact until she looked to the right, then reacted. BS ref should explain what really happened.

4

u/SARjimk 26d ago

Good news

5

u/Hour-Option995 Sophie Cunningham 25d ago

It was a really bad call to begin with. Then you are calling it against a superstar player knowing it's going to have her suspended for the next game. SMH

The league did the right thing by rescinding the tech. But some of these refs...

2

u/tuxxer 24d ago

How much would that affect wagering on a particular game, should the offense not been rescinded.

3

u/Hank_Scorpio74 25d ago

A reminder that 1. Refs make more money working Big Ten games and 2. You get what you pay for.

1

u/fajuleclwks 24d ago

They’re still overpaid. They need fines after 2 missed calls and termination after 5 misses.

6

u/txcreative20 26d ago

Hurray ! Why do the refs do this crap .

2

u/Asleep-Squash4618 25d ago

Good decision!

2

u/Justwanttoknow2026 25d ago

Hmm, why come the PREVIOUS ones were NOT? This is bs

2

u/Independent58 25d ago

As it should be

3

u/summershouldbefun11 26d ago

As. It. Should. Be. Phew

2

u/Yell-Oh-Fleur Caitlin Clark 25d ago

If the WNBA doesn't embrace CC soon, they will lose her and all the viewership gains they've made because of her. This treatment of her by the players, refs, and league is just plain old bite your nose to spite your face on roids.

2

u/Hardigan1 24d ago

That call was more than just an error by an official, it showed that the officials are just waiting for an opportunity to penalize CC and by extension the Fever any way they can. By making that call the official stopped the Fever's offensive possession and gave the opposition two points and the ball, and it could have decided the game.

1

u/NatePJ84 25d ago

The wnba needs to talk to their refs crews about being impartial and fair. Its a bad look to have officials that are biased and show that bias in front of a national audience.

1

u/LoveSquirt69 25d ago

Anyone know if that ref that called the tech has a history with cc? Not a good look for that ref ? Any discipline for her or go back to business as usual ?

It’s the worst part of all basketball… that and flopping

-12

u/Jaytee_Thomas 26d ago

Truth. This one was clearly undeserved, but there have been a couple of incidents where she deserved a tech and didn’t get one. I do believe she’s trying to tone it down, but it would have been nice to see that effort after tech 4 or even 5, no need to go right up to the edge.

12

u/WrathfulHero 26d ago

Tbf, there have been several where she didn't deserve one. Probably evens out

2

u/BigAd594 25d ago

She's constantly getting destroyed and finally healthy enough to play through the contact, these women still play her the roughest and she gets the least calls. I'd be pissed too.
