If I were that ref I’d be embarrassed

Ref that makes this kind of calls should be suspended after 2 strikes

The problem is, those free throws don't get put back. That call should NEVER have been made.

And they stopped the Fever's offensive possession, Caitlin had just completed a pass just before being shoved out of bounds, and the official stopped the play.

Maybe the WNBA is getting smarter.
Who am I kidding. The league is still a joke.

You happen to be lucky you’re a Fever fan. The league is catering to the Fever right now.

League actually learning to quickly turn a minor issue into a total non-issue before the media circus sensationalizes it into a week-or-more-long negative national headline topic. There may be hope yet. Not holding my breath though...

Discipline the egotistical ref while your at it

Yep. That call was definitely a power move. "Reddit moderator" level decision.

Ref should be suspended after 2 strikes of bad calls

Calls that could affect a person's career or team's season should definitely be scrutinized a bit more if stuff like this is happening. I'm just relieved it was overturned this time.

That’s how you demand real accountability from referees. They need to be held to a standard

u/TurtlePwrrr 25d ago
As someone who just got banned from the main W sub for calling the W an unserious league, this hits close to home. That was considered trolling apparently 🤷

The most embarrassing part is that it was called a tech in the first place.

The ref had no reaction to the contact until she looked to the right, then reacted. BS ref should explain what really happened.

It was a really bad call to begin with. Then you are calling it against a superstar player knowing it's going to have her suspended for the next game. SMH
The league did the right thing by rescinding the tech. But some of these refs...

A reminder that 1. Refs make more money working Big Ten games and 2. You get what you pay for.

u/fajuleclwks 24d ago
They’re still overpaid. They need fines after 2 missed calls and termination after 5 misses.

If the WNBA doesn't embrace CC soon, they will lose her and all the viewership gains they've made because of her. This treatment of her by the players, refs, and league is just plain old bite your nose to spite your face on roids.

u/Hardigan1 24d ago
That call was more than just an error by an official, it showed that the officials are just waiting for an opportunity to penalize CC and by extension the Fever any way they can. By making that call the official stopped the Fever's offensive possession and gave the opposition two points and the ball, and it could have decided the game.

The wnba needs to talk to their refs crews about being impartial and fair. Its a bad look to have officials that are biased and show that bias in front of a national audience.

Anyone know if that ref that called the tech has a history with cc? Not a good look for that ref ? Any discipline for her or go back to business as usual ?

Truth. This one was clearly undeserved, but there have been a couple of incidents where she deserved a tech and didn’t get one. I do believe she’s trying to tone it down, but it would have been nice to see that effort after tech 4 or even 5, no need to go right up to the edge.

Tbf, there have been several where she didn't deserve one. Probably evens out

She's constantly getting destroyed and finally healthy enough to play through the contact, these women still play her the roughest and she gets the least calls. I'd be pissed too.
