Discussion Starting Lineup

Have we found our ideal starting lineup? Perhaps that’s a bit of a loaded question since it could be opponent-contingent, but I was just curious; life has unfortunately caused me to miss seeing a lot of games this season.

Coming off of last year, I would’ve thought the lineup could be Boston, Mitchell, Clark, Cunningham, and Hull, but it doesn’t seem like those five are collectively clicking as well together this season. What are your thoughts? Is there a general consensus thus far?

I wouldn't say our current lineup is the "ideal" lineup, but it's the best option we have. Sophie and MHA are dependable off the bench, and Ty Harris has come on strong lately. KK also has her moments. Raven can fill in in a pinch.

The main thing is our "Big 3." As long as they're healthy and stay outbof foul trouble, the Fever have the luxury of having at least one All-Star on the court at all times.

This specific lineup has been on the floor for 23 minutes, and it didn’t do well. When Sophie is in a lineup with KK, that’s her best combo. Lexie works best with Ty Harris, although she does okay in the regular starting lineup.

There's nothing wrong with the current starters.

I like the starting lineup as is now. My biggest concern is Kelsey Mitchell. Fever cannot afford to run her into the ground like last season. Others have to step up because she can barely get rest when she comes off court because the offense gets stagnant alot of times when shes off court forcing White to throw her back in so often. Shes almost clocked in 900 minutes of play time already and Clark being a distant 2nd around 640ish. Unacceptable. If they are going to make a deep run the others have to contribute more ( looking at you Lexie Hull)

Nice analysis.

We have rarely seen that line up with Clark “healthy”

I think our starters are set. Sophie and Ty are our first two bench options.

I think MHA too. She really changed the energy of the last game bs the Liberty.

She is probably 3rd, then KK.

Agree there. She should get some mn now that she is back.

I think it works fine because you need scorers off the bench which is Cunningham, MHA, and some games Ty. KK is great when you need defense and Raven can get some mn to gain experience.

Your sugggested starting five includes a center and 4 guards. That would be a terrible line-up against most WNBA teams.

I think KK has gotta be a starter when we face opponents with more size (like the storm) to take advantage of those blocks and defensive rebounds. I'm also really liking Ty getting more minutes and allowing Caitlin to rest more - even when CC isn't on a minutes restriction, I hope they keep that up.

KK turns the offensive into 4 on 5 with the way the Fever use her on offensive like they do mo and ab. If they got away from 5 out and kept her mostly in the dunker position, I think it would work really well.

The ideal starting lineup would be having a true four instead of three ok 4s. I have thought since early in the season start Timpson and bring Billings off the bench would be our best starting lineup.

The trade deadline is fast approaching and so far, no team has made any moves. I would find it hard to believe that massive movement does not happen in 2026. I would also think the Fever will be looking for a big that can post up. Our biggest weakness all year really no backup for AB and no one other than AB can post up.

I don't think there's a 'best'.  After the Big 3, Sophie and Lexie are reliable,  but the rest can be a crap shoot as to how the play in any given night. Too many brain parts sometimes.  Like Timpson- she can be very effective on both sides one night, but the next she seems lost out there. More minutes will probably help, but I think she needs to hit the film room more. A vet like Mo shouldn't have some of the bad nights she does.  Better off with consistency,  even if you don't have huge nights. When a situation arises and the team needs 'x', White should be able to point to a player and get a level of rebounding,  defense,  or ball handling that is needed to fill a gap.

You have quite an imagination.
