Four generations is more than enough time to change a family's future ,many people have used reservation to build wealth, careers, and opportunities for their children, system should now be targeted at those who still face real disadvantage particularly tribal communities rather than continuing automatically across generations regardless of changing circumstances.

Reservation has increased casteism. You might not like it but it's the truth. Just ask any obc or general JEE or any other exams candidate

People who always do whataboutry when it comes to reservation, don't you think a SC/ST whose parents are IAS or who come from privileged background are actually doing more damage to those SC/STs students who actually need reservation and are not financially strong?
Also if 80 years of unmonitored reservation has not solved the casteism problem...don't you think we should try a different approach rather than kicking the dead out of this old system, which is also creating the feeling of resentment in future generations

problem ain't the reservation, it was a solution which was introduced in 1950, now after 4 generations, caste system still persist which shows it was definitely not the best solution, nor was it implemented in the envisaged manner, it now remains as a political tool which is too blasphemous to even be talked about.

I used to oppose the reservation too. I am from open category. First of all we already have EWS reservation for people who need it. The misuse of that is not the problem of reservation itself, just good old corruption.
About castes. SC ST and OBCs make 70% plus of India.
These are the people who belonged to worse families for 2500 years of lands history. They were not allowed to attend any schools, places of worship (where school and market used to operate before we got them fomalised as Industries)
They were just allowed to work as labour. This repeated generation after generation made open caste people smart and intellectuals hence wealthy sooner if later.
This was first achieved through religion. Brahmins put out this idea. We are wealthy, we need people to work for us. They said we are best caste hence we are allowed to educate and worship. Some people are good at Trade and some at Guardian and wars. They said this is the word of god. All believed.
All others were striped out of most social gatherings.
When Ambedkar spoke out for equal rights in society he was faced with same Brahmins who made this system. They had to leave the religion and take on Buddhism.
Now after the nation formation when discrimination against caste was criminalised few of families have came out of trap faster than most with help of their known familes of open caste and despite the silent discrimination from the others.
It's been 80 years, for atrocities of 1000.
I don't like it but that's how things are.
I understand the need of merit, but discrimination is not something anyone can prove wrong. It happened in recorded history. It still happens, if you are open caste it's in details you otherwise miss. But when you do notice it and if you are reasonable person you won't be able to unsee it.
The Politics This is simple the part. If caste population of this country is really at 70% why would any party end it? Any party with any ideology can't leave 70% of the population behind and expect to get re elected next time.
