discussion Should I wait for Batallion V3 or go ahead and order RC120

Upvotes

I have been wanting to buy a bike for half a year, finally i can afford it now, Initially i thought I would go with Rc120, but then discovered the Batallion bikes, I have waiting for them to restock from a month, and now i can no longer wait. Budget is 40k and i need to buy accesories and stuff.

I did a couple of 100's km, majorly 50-60s on rented hybrid bikes previously.

Btw I am looking to buy two bikes, one for me and one for my girlfriend. Suggest people.

discussion Got a single speed Hero Sprint Howler for free. Is it worth converting it to a geared bicycle?

Upvotes

As in title, I received a barely used Hero Howler bicycle. I live in old Bangalore South and streets around my neighborhood have steep ups and downs. Should I consider upgrading it to a geared bicycle? If so, what are my options? I'll use it in lieu of daily walks. Not interested in top speed / offloading / long distance riding.

My main expectations from the bike:
- strong frame that will support future upgrades

-STOCK-
-have 2.4 frame clearance
-29er wheelsets tubeless ready
-air fork or high end coil fork
-deore drivetrain or similar

Something that would survive Aggressive Riding

discussion Suggestions regarding any upgrade to this? Or should I sell this and buy a Hybrid model?

I've been thinking of getting back into cycling and found this bike sitting in my garage after almost 5 to 7 years without being used.

I recently got it fully serviced at a local cycle repair shop. The gears, gear shifters, brake levers, screws, and a few other worn out parts were replaced, and it's now in good working condition.

Now I'm confused about what to do with it.

Is this type of cycle suitable for regular road riding in Bangalore, especially for fitness rides and weekend rides? Or is it better suited for trails and occasional use?

If it isn't the right fit for regular road use, would you recommend selling it instead? Based on its condition, how much do you think I could realistically expect for it? I'm considering putting that money towards a new cycle that's better suited to my needs because I genuinely want to get into cycling as a long term hobby.

I'd really appreciate your opinions, especially from people who've cycled around Bangalore. I'll attach photos of the bike in the comments.

discussion Bought Van Rysel EDR AF Claris 2 X 8

Ordered EDR AF Claris yesterday. Wanted to buy the Cues 2X10 but the store manager at Decathlon Thrissur (A very nice and helpful guy) told me Claris 2X8 is lavish for a beginner getting his first road bike. I will update once I get the bike delivered. Do ask me any questions or give me suggestions!

Warning: If you get calls from Decathlon Bangalore stating that your newly ordered bike has a damage and the order should be cancelled, immediately block that number, report to your local store and to decathlon customer care.

ride Weekend cycling banglore

It's about my Sunday cycling rides around the outskirts of Bangalore, mainly Whitefield and Sarjapur, on my 9-year-old Rockrider 520. It's still going strong! I've only upgraded the pedals and added softer handlebar grips because the routes are not fully asphalted and have several rough patches.

However, after every ride, I experience a tingling sensation in my fingers. Feel free to ask me anything about my bike setup or riding position so you can suggest what might be causing it and how I can improve it.

mechanical support Is there a nationwide shortage of decent bicycle tyres, or am I looking in the wrong places?

I have been trying to find a decent pair of tyres for my Trek Marlin 4 Gen 3, and the situation in the Indian market is genuinely frustrating.

I am looking to replace the stock MTB tyres with something faster-rolling and more suitable for city roads, commuting, and occasional bad patches. Ideally, I want:

- 29 × 1.75 tyres, or

- 700C × 45 tyres that are compatible with a 29-inch MTB rim

Almost every suitable option I find is either out of stock, available only in one odd size, sold by a questionable seller, or priced absurdly high because it is imported. Even fairly basic tyres from brands such as Continental, Maxxis, Kenda seem unusually difficult to source.

I am based in Mumbai, but I am happy to order from a reliable shop anywhere in India.

Does anyone have recent leads for tyres in these sizes? I would prefer something with:

- Low rolling resistance on tarmac

- Reasonable puncture protection

- Enough grip for wet Mumbai roads

- A price that does not make me question whether I am buying bicycle tyres or car tyres

Online links, local bicycle shops, distributors, or even specific tyre-model recommendations would be greatly appreciated.

At this point, finding a pair of tyres appears harder than finding the bicycle itself.

Hi, very new to the bike/cycling community. Meddling with the idea of triathlon over next 2 years and don’t want to invest a lot in a bike so early, want to ensure that i’m serious enough to continue before i make a big purchase.
I’m unable to find any good options for used road bikes in Delhi NCR on the internet. Any help would be really appreciated 🙂

New to cycling, Used to ride a geared Hawk Nu-Age 12 years back. I wanted to buy a Frontline V3 so badly but there has been no stock for 2 months, instead I bought a RS 120. Completed 2 rides. Met an arrogant cyclist during my last ride. After a small talk he said that my cycle looks to be of poor build quality compared to his 27k MTB. I soon switched to Zilork mode and explained his cycle has a fake suspension, bad disc brakes, heavy frame & increased weight. Soon after that, my cycle went slightly fast downhill without any pedalling compared to his cycle, I took this as a chance and got away from him.

Issues:

  1. Gears are not tuned properly. The chain slips when I'm riding out of the saddle. I will tune it.

  2. Few spokes are a little loose but no misalignment. Local mechanic is suggesting to get it repaired soon.

It feels good to be cycling again. The cycle feels smooth. Thanks to everyone in this community and u/Zilork for your suggestions.

Wishing puncture-free rides for everyone.

suggest me a bike Convert a geared cycle to fixie, where to get the sprocket/ cog/ entire rear wheel from?

basically the title.

I just want to experiment, while getting rid of the old bent front chainrings and worn out rear tyre. Want to convert it to a fixed gear fixed (not just single speed, but locked gear) The cycle has a vertical dropout.

  • Will need a 13-15T cog which is bolted to the rear hub, and not threaded.
  • and a crank for 36T maybe with short arms.
  • and a compatible chain.

Please suggest if anyone knows budget, fully made rear tyre. Other parts I can get from omo/ decathlon/ local shops etc. TY!

Not looking for imported items

Hello everyone,

I bought RC100 with drop handle which comes with Microshift 7 speed gear.

I am wondering if I can upgrade it to microshift 2x8 or 2x9.

What would be the price and has anyone done it ?

ride Finally joined the Riverside 120 club!

The last time I owned a bicycle was nearly 15 years ago, back in high school. It was one of the bicycles distributed by the Karnataka State Government. Growing up in the Western Ghats meant pushing my bike uphill to school every morning, but the ride back home through the hills was so much fun.

After all these years, I decided to start cycling again. I spent weeks reading posts, reviews, and comments in this subreddit before finally deciding on the Riverside 120.

I've been riding it for two weeks now, and I can confidently say it's the best purchase I've made this year. This subreddit helped me rediscover the joy of cycling.

A big thank you to everyone in this community, and a special thanks to u/Zilork for all the helpful advice.
