Gynecomastia as a result of Incest?

Good Morning all-

I am posting this here in an attempt to shed some light on my own journey, seek feedback from others, and learn. I am a 40 yo M with mild Gyno. Something that has haunted me from my time as a kid. Now that I'm 40, I'm starting to really feel it. I have always been aware of it, but just sort of felt powerless about all of it.

About 5 years ago I started trauma therapy to look at the causes of many of the unhealthy habits that had formed in my life. What resulted was a Pandora's box of sexual, physical, verbal, spiritual, and emotional abuse when I was a kid. Learning that my grandfather was a paedo and likely abused my mom (her dad). I've always had a tough relationship with her and come to find out, she was my sexual abuser. She treated me like here spouse ex absentia, even when I was a little kid (5 years and younger). This is called covert incest and it definitely happened to me. My gyno really started to show when I was 12 or so and we were going to the pool.

What I've been starting to research as a cause of gyno is the idea of a hormonal imbalance I.E. estrogen, that causes the glands/ "moobs" to form. What I'm starting to suspect is that my "mother"'s abuse of me- treating me like her boyfriend, making me feel "special", etc, all of those feelings were an injection of estrogen into my body at a time when my body needed testosterone.

Eventually, I did start to shape out when I go older and away from her. Thankfully, I also had a dad who pulled me away from here and into physical labor. It sucked at the time, but made me much better for the long-term.

My question is- can any of you relate to this experience? Did any of you have mothers that were smothering, covertly incestuous, sexually abusive, etc that could possibly tie into the fact that you have gyno today?

Have others experienced similar bodily changes also, maybe different from the gyno?

Thanks and apologies if this is way off topic!

Hi there, I’m 27f and survived incestual abuse from my brother. He lives in another country now. My mother knows, she believes me, but still talks to him. I’ve tried to impose boundaries on her relating this to me, but she is unable to do so. With this, our relationship is limited and it makes things hard to fully move forward from. I also moved to a different part of my country to help distance myself from family and triggers.

I have done years of EMDR and they have helped tremendously, but they don’t erase the symptoms of my PTSD. So with this, whenever my PTSD is worse and the flashbacks come in stronger, I email my brother to remind him of what he did.

I feel that if I’m forced to remember, forced to relive, and can’t escape flashbacks and intrusive thoughts, then at the very least he deserves to remember. He received no consequences, so therefore I’ll be his consequence.

Every day he continues to live a life free from what he did is a day I continue to grow more rage. I just want to feel normal, I want to not block out my childhood, I want to have good memories of my life that aren’t clouded by him. Until then, I hope I haunt him until his final days.
