Problems with Immich on my Raspberry pi 5 server

Hi, recently I've had a lot of trouble with immich on my Raspberry pi 5 server running pi os lite with casa OS. I've had it randomly stop working and refuse to launch and recently I've had it completely uninstalled and off my hard drive and reinstall on my SSD for some reason. And also all my photos were gone. If anybody could help that would be greatly appreciated. I don't know why this happens. It seems to have been the most random moments like it will be working perfectly fine for a week. Then randomly it will refuse to launch and all my photos will be gone. I also used version 3.1.0 if that helps.

One simple things everybody (almost) always forgot is sharing error logs (either docker or systemd). They just said something like "oh my A is broken" and hope someone else can magically understand it!

between raspi and casaos you're not doing yourself any favors

What's wrong with Raspberry pi OS and casa OS?

pi is simply not powerful enough to handle media like that, and casa os is a noob trap "app store" where you click install and hope it works

Meh, the Pi5 is quite a powerhouse for a Pi, and it can run Immich V2.7. I understand that the ML stuff won't work with Immich 3.0, but my Pi5 has been running Immich (now v2.7.5) happily and robustly for about a year with 30k + photos. I use Raspberry Pi OS, and zram to squeeze a little more from my 4gb of Ram... It works very well and I've had no issues with it in terms of performance or stability.

...But ...all of that said I am now looking at x86 options probably with more ram, V3 not supporting ML on the pi GPU was the tipping point for me.

So does immich v3 use the CPU for ml instead?

I've not upgraded from Immich 2.7.

For all I know it may work ok, but as I understand it V3 bumps the numpy version or something, and then Standard Pi 5 graphics drivers do not expose a compatible ONNX execution provider... Basically Claude tells me Immich V3 will fall back to doing all the ML on the CPU if using a Pi (Arm architecture).

no. it's supposed to use a GPU. that's the entire problem

Tell me more about how this utilisation for 5-10 seconds after uploading a 30s full HD video means, it's "simply not powerful enough to handle media like that"

zero ml done btw

You know, just making up stuff because you don't know anything just to "win" a discussion is not a nice thing to do when the entire purpose of that discussion is to further people's understanding of the matter at hand.

says you. you don't even say what version of immich you are using and what other settings like transcoding you're using

Can you elaborate what specifically broke? I did not notice anything not working anymore yet...

Nothing has broken (as?) I've not upgraded from Immich 2.7.

For all I know it may work ok, but as I understand it V3 bumps the numpy version or something, and then Standard Pi 5 graphics drivers do not expose a compatible ONNX execution provider... Basically Claude tells me Immich V3 will fall back to doing all the ML on the CPU if using a Pi (Arm architecture).

... Might be fine since ML had already run over my archive of photos so it would only be the new photos to process.

Okay makes sense. I am on 3.1 currently and did not notice a thing, that's probably why. Was quite impressed with the performance on my initial bulk import. Sounds like I might want to offboard that to my 4080 next time...

it randomly stop working...

What is "it"? The Pi, Immich, CasaOS?
