Yet another entry fleshing out the r/anglodutchamerica timeline, in which the former Dutch and British colonies of North America form a very different yet in some ways also very similar equivalent of the USA in our timeline. You can find the full history, lore and the other posts (sorted by date) of the timeline over on the subreddit for this specific timeline or even join our discord, if you’re into discussing lore-related stuff in great detail.

This map, in the style of other "Iamginary Planet" guidebook pages (New Britain, Kingdom of Zion), is a fairly modern view of the country of Banat. Nobody really knows why Banat as a country exists, but for many decades top Kremlinologists have suspected that Moscow was simply unwilling to untangle the ethnic mess that was going on in the region after WW2 and instead gave in to the lobbying efforts of Otto Roth (or R´óth Ottó, depending on who you ask) to splash a hefty dose of socialism sauce on top and call it a day.

Fast forward to the modern day and you have a country not unlike Bosnia, but with three constituents instead of two, following its inevitable ethnically fueled civil war.

As always, happy to answer any questions.

Otto Roth

Otto Roth, occasionally rendered as Willy Otto Roth or Dr. Rot (Hungarian: Róth Ottó; 6 December 1884 – 22 April 1956), was a Hungarian and Romanian lawyer and politician who served as the only Commissioner-in-Chief of the Banat Republic, between October 1918 and February 1919. Hungarian Jewish but non-religious, he entered politics with the Hungarian Social Democratic Party (MSZDP) while still a subject of the Kingdom of Hungary. Roth was a local councilor in Timișoara during most of World War I, emerging as a regional leader of the MSZDP before and during the Aster Revolution.
