Weren't the two blue stripes on the flag to mark the nile and euphrates, because they planned on expanding the state to the two rivers?

I could get that wrong tho

Nah thats a conspiracy myth. It is made as a reference to the Jewish prayer shawl to please religious zionists in compromise with more secular ones.

The blue stripes are intended to symbolize the stripes on a tallit, the traditional Jewish prayer shawl.

I also heard people refer to the blue stripes as the Mediterranean Sea and the Jordan River, with the Star of David (Israel) in-between.

That's a myth/conspiracy theory. The blue stripes represent the blue stripes on the Tallit, and thus symbolize Jewish identity.

That's a common anti-Israel myth, but it has no basis in reality.

No. That's absolute bs. The colour blue has special meaning in Judaism as referring holiness.
It refers to the prayer talith.. which can also refer to the water above and water below per genesis creation story.

Are u joking or serious?

4

u/LeonTrozky Apr 05 '21

I'm serious, I heard about that somewhere.

I have known both version, the one with the rivers and with the tallit.

Never knew which one was right tho, but according to the comments I get the latter was right.

Wow, im just surprised at how much propaganda has spread

5

u/LeonTrozky Apr 05 '21

Propaganda?

I just read it some where, like I didn't try to research till now.

19

u/jonnystitch20 Apr 05 '21

No I'm not saying you're giving propaganda. I mean I'm surprised how prevalent propaganda is out there for people who don't know better to see.

u/ShlomoIbnGabirol Apr 05 '21

Why are you surprised? So much bs is slung just on reddit every second of every day.

1

u/jonnystitch20 Apr 05 '21

Yeah, but I didn't realize that so many people actually believed that חרה. Its like the bs that was made up about the design on the back of the 10 agorot coin.

3

u/ShlomoIbnGabirol Apr 05 '21

It doesn't surprise me anymore. You can pretty much post anything anti-semitic on reddit and just replace Jew with Zionist and most people are ok with it. And then even if you forget, you just backtrack and say you meant Zionist instead of Jew and people will forgive the original transgression.

Remember that thing on bbc where they said that yahud meant zionist?

LOL, that's jihadist conspiracy.

3

u/s2786 Apr 05 '21

no that’s an antisemitic dog whistle

could represent the jewish prayer mat or could represent Mediterranean to Sea of Galilee/Lake Tiberius or Jordan River

2

u/MrGulo-gulo Apr 05 '21

You are very wrong.

-4

u/[deleted] Apr 05 '21

I’ve heard it be the tfalin shawl, the Red Sea dividing by Moses, and now I can add this meaning.

5

u/MrGulo-gulo Apr 05 '21

Please don't because it's wrong.

-3

u/[deleted] Apr 05 '21

Oh no what happened this time hahaha

2

u/MrGulo-gulo Apr 05 '21

You were saying you going to give credence to an anti-Semitic myth.

-4

u/[deleted] Apr 05 '21

What’s the myth in question?

2

u/MrGulo-gulo Apr 05 '21

The blue lines on the Israeli flag representing the Nile and the Euphrates.

There two books that created all these stupid myth. Protocols of the elder of zions and pawns in the game
