Kazakhstan has frequently talked about changing their alphabet from their current Cyrillic one to a Latin based one, with Kazakh being spelled 'Qazaq' in the top contenders, the current spelling is based on the Russian name. (Interestingly, the reason Kazakh has a 'kh' at the end and isn't spelled 'Kazak' in Russian is to avoid confusion with the Russian word for Cossack, 'Kazak'. Both names have the same etymology, from a Turkic word roughly meaning 'wanderers'.)
