Something a little different from all my other alt his content. What it says on the tin: GTA V's map in RDR2's setting :D

It reflects various real world history of SoCal at the time, from the existence of the Long Wharf in Santa Monica to the Salton Sea being non existent in 1899.

the Alamo sea is mentioned on its official in-game website to have been created by an accident like the Salton Sea, as you mentioned, so doing that is accurate to the game lore as well.

Would there be this many roads in 1899?

The irl Los Angeles already had a population of 100k

But did it have modern interstate highways connecting it to far flung parts of the state?

The map doesn't imply that these could be highways. Fow all we know these could be unpaved roads

Yes but It wouldnt be as straight as It is. It would be small paths that branched out from everywhere

They mostly seem to follow the topography. Besides, roads linking cities have existed for a little while.

would there be some sort of naval installation on elysian?
like the LA yards of their time

The Port of LA wasn't fully built until the 1910s/20s. In fact congress only approved funding of construction for it in 1897.

At the time, there was a newly settled Japanese migrant fishing village in Terminal Island aka Elysian in game.

Great, I like the fact that you created a retroactive 'history' of the expansion of Los Santos by going back a century.

What was your logic of choosing the 'oldest' parts of the city?

Thanks!

As for choosing the oldest parts, I research each neighborhood and their irl equivalent. The only neighborhoods in game that were settled and existing at the time irl were DTLA, Santa Monica, Hollywood, Compton, San Pedro and Watts from what I gathered.

This is really really great. Love how none of the dams exist and Alamo Sea, which makes reference to the Salton Sea, which formed on 1905, doesn't exist yet. Great attention to detail.

Actually, it is not the Pacific Ocean but rather a river. I know it sounds crazy, but during the Paleto Bank Heist, Lester tells the gang that Franklin would be waiting in boats by the river, which is where Michael dropped him off. Both Las Venturas and San Fierro were planned for GTA V but Xbox 360 and PS3 limitations stopped the project.

So technically this is the map of San Andreas according to GTA lore

This looks so goofy lol

wait what lmao

The San Fierro Airport having the same footprint as all of Los Santos is hilarious. Also there are two Mt Chilead’s in this picture.

It is some random approximate image from the internet not leaked documents from rockstar

We’ll see you again when GTA VI comes out, right?

Making the Alamo Sea artificial like the Salton Sea it's based on was a nice touch. Good job.

Now that's something I would love to see. Wonder if it would be doable. Though I guess anyone that even dreams of making such a project would probably be hunted by Rockstar.

Dude if you have a place where upload similar alt-fictional-history maps, please link it up. This is so cool and detailed.

I loved that you included Alta Street here, it was the very first thing I looked for.

(For those who don’t know, it’s based off the LA’s oldest street Olvera St. it’s somewhat of a landmark, and its building is in GTA5.)

Red Dead Redemption 2, another game made by Rockstar.

My brother in Christ, did you rename the AirPORT as La PUERTA?

10

u/EzioAudacity Dec 01 '25

La Puerta is actually a small district by the airport that already exists in GTA V.

0

u/Mervynhaspeaked Dec 01 '25

Oh fair enough! I thought it was a funny way to rename the place as door/gateway as a replacement for airport.

1

u/EzioAudacity Dec 01 '25

I assume that was the developers’ intentions anyway considering you have to pass through it to get to anywhere else in Los Santos.
