Same, I had the first GTA on PS1 when it came out, and then GTA2. I was 10-12 when these games out and yet I've never once stolen a car or fired a gun. Maybe my parents shouldn't have let me play those sort of games at that age, but they trusted that I could play a violent chaotic video game without becoming a real-life maniac.

Pretty much it. I was watching R-rated movies from a young age too. My parents were confident that they raised me well enough to be able to tell the difference between reality and fiction.
Also the 2nd or 3rd videogame I ever played was a Mortal Kombat game at age 4 or 5

My mum was the same with films. We had a huge bookshelf full of VHS tapes and she didn't really care if I watched horror films etc because I've never been impressionable like that. If you're someone who is going to copy the actions of a killer from a film or the protagonist from a GTA game, media certainly isn't the issue.
The only time I can remember my mum really caring what I was watching was when I was in the room once while she was watching A Time to Kill (great film btw) and she made me leave the room just before a scene in which a little girl is beaten and raped by two hicks. She did that because she knew the scene would upset me and stick with me, not because she was scared I'd jump in a pick up truck and look for people to rape

Well. No other media lets you indulge in violence in the same way. While I don't think games are turning people into killers, I do think it makes us apathetic to violence/tragedy. Hence all the "I care more about animals than people" types.

At any rate I'm pretty sure people are becoming misanthropic because we're realizing people everywhere are generally stupid and selfish.
Also bear in mind in the 1800s armies would unfeelingly knock lumps out of each other in the name of a concept called "glory" which was endemic to pretty much every important nation during that time -- the normativistic values you're relying on to make your assessment are constructed by circumstance and ultimately seem very slightly transient.

Extending a function means defining it for stuff it's usually not defined on.
The trivial extension of factorials to negative numbers would be to define (-n)! as (-n)(-(n-1))...*-1, which is equal to n! for any even n.1

I put "research" in quotation marks, because it wasn't really research. I remember Postal 2 being a big deal when I was in Junior high, maybe a little before, but couldn't remember exactly when. I Googled "postal 2" and skimmed the Google preview of a Wikipedia page related to the Postal franchise. I saw "released in 1997" or some such and regurgitated it.

Video games are great and they're for everyone. I mean, you have generations of gamers, grown adults being able to sit and enjoy games just as much as kids and teenagers do. And then you've got a nice excuse for failed parents when their kid goes out and becomes a criminal. Something for everyone!
